‘Landman’s Ali Larter Hates Filming One Type of Scene in Taylor Sheridan’s Hit Series

I first really noticed Ali Larter back in the original Final Destination and its sequel – she was so good at escaping those crazy accidents! Now, I’m a big fan of Taylor Sheridan’s show, and seeing her as Angela is fantastic. But I recently read that playing such a confident, strong character actually means she has to film a lot of really physically demanding scenes, and even deal with the nerves of wearing a bikini on camera. It’s cool to see an actress so willing to push herself, but it also shows there’s a lot more to a performance than just what we see on screen.

Having worked in film and television for many years, 49-year-old actress Rebecca Larter feels her experience helps her handle challenging scenes. However, she also admitted to feeling self-conscious when her roles require minimal clothing. She recently shared this with PEOPLE magazine.

No actress really wants to film a bikini scene. It’s always challenging, and honestly, I don’t enjoy them. I do it because it’s necessary for the story and that’s my job as an actor, but they’re definitely the scenes I like the least.

It feels like I constantly have to battle my self-doubt and anxiety just to feel comfortable enough to film scenes in a bikini.

Some viewers have criticized the second season of Landman for spending too much time on the storylines of Angela and her daughter, Ainsley (played by Michelle Randolph). However, Sarah Larter, who plays Angela, has fully committed to the role, even going to great lengths to prepare for scenes she found challenging. Before the season began, Larter shared that she would wake up at 4:30 AM for a 30-minute run and focus on healthy eating to feel her best during bikini scenes.

Paramount+

It’s clear that Landman has quickly become one of Taylor Sheridan’s most popular series. Its first season was a hit, and the second season broke all previous records. Season 3 is currently being filmed, and it’s likely Landman will be a top performer on Paramount+ again next year. However, while Season 2 attracted a large audience, its critical reception declined somewhat over time.

Season 2 of Landman received a much lower audience score on Rotten Tomatoes – 44% – compared to the 65% of its first season. The main issue for viewers seemed to be uncomfortable or awkward storylines. Some felt the new season resembled reality shows like Real Housewives, a shift from the more intense, *Breaking Badlike tone of Season 1. Creator Taylor Sheridan has faced criticism before regarding his portrayal of female characters, and despite attempts to give two women more significant roles this season, it doesn’t appear to have resonated with audiences.

Michelle Pfeiffer stars in Taylor Sheridan’s new series, The Madison. It will be interesting to see if Sheridan can build on the success of shows like Yellowstone and Lioness and successfully reintroduce some of his popular female characters.
