I just finished watching this incredible movie on HBO Max, and it’s got me thinking. It feels like what happens in this film might actually foreshadow who’s going to win a really important battle in Hollywood, especially after everything that’s changed recently. It’s a bit strange to think a movie could predict the future, but it feels significant!

Ryan Coogler’s film, Sinners, is widely considered one of the best movies of 2025, joining critically acclaimed titles like One Battle After Another and Hamnet. Featuring performances from Michael B. Jordan, Wunmi Mosaku, Delroy Lindo, and a talented cast, Sinners recently made history by receiving a record-breaking 16 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.

It’s highly probable that either one of these films will win Best Picture in March 2026. Other popular movies currently available on HBO Max include Death of a Unicorn, Weapons, and the 2025 release, How to Train Your Dragon.

As a film buff, I’m really excited to see Sinners making waves! It just pulled off something historic, and honestly, I think it might be a sign of things to come this awards season. For a while there, One Battle After Another seemed like the clear favorite for Best Picture – it took home the prize at the Critics’ Choice Awards, and Paul Thomas Anderson was winning Best Director everywhere, even beating out Ryan Coogler at both the Critics’ Choice and Golden Globes. But now, Sinners‘ win feels like a real turning point.

With 16 Academy Award nominations, interest in Sinners is likely to grow, potentially making it a strong contender for Best Picture.
