As a total TV and movie fanatic, I’ve seen a lot of fan pairings over the years, but honestly, Buck and Eddie from 9-1-1 are probably the ones everyone’s buzzing about the most right now. With the show airing its ninth season, the ‘will they/won’t they’ is getting intense! People have been hoping they’d get together since Eddie showed up way back in season two, but the showrunner recently shared what’s really going on with their relationship, and it might not be what some fans want to hear.

The potential romance between Buck and Eddie, often called “Buddie,” is a major topic of discussion among fans of the TV show 9-1-1. After nine seasons, viewers are still unsure if the relationship will ever become a reality. Oliver Stark, the actor who plays Buck, has said he’s open to following the story wherever it leads, even if that means a romantic connection. However, recent comments from showrunner Tim Minear to The Washington Post suggest a romance isn’t guaranteed.

This is a tough topic for me because I’m a big fan of the ‘Buddie’ pairing, just like many others. It’s different from shows built entirely around a central romance, like ‘Heated Rivalry.’ Our show isn’t focused on that. I know this might upset some people, but I believe the potential for a relationship between these two characters is what makes things interesting.

I can definitely see why those comments upset people, as the showrunner pointed out. As a fan who’s supported Buck and Eddie’s relationship since season two, I was disappointed with what Minear said. This is largely because there have been several chances for Buck to confess his feelings, and the show has hinted at his attraction to Eddie many times.

It feels unfair to keep fans waiting for news about another season of 9-1-1, especially because a renewal isn’t certain. There’s always a chance the show won’t be picked up for a new season.

Buck and Eddie clearly have a strong bond, and it’s difficult to picture them being apart. As a viewer, I was particularly affected when Eddie was away, and fans have been hoping to see their relationship evolve since his return. However, this season has featured very few scenes of them together, and even those moments have been short. It’s unclear what this means for their future, especially now that Eddie is starting to explore new romantic relationships.
