Okay, so I just got a sneak peek at what’s coming up, and Mario fans are in for a treat! This spring, we’re getting a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and this one’s based on the beloved Super Mario Galaxy game from Nintendo. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are back in the director’s chairs, and honestly, if they capture the magic of that game, we’re in for something special. It’s hitting US theaters soon, and I’m already excited!

What do we see in the new Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer?

The latest trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie shows more of Mario, voiced by Chris Pratt, as he travels through various worlds. We also get our first official glimpse of Yoshi, who briefly appeared at the end of the previous movie.

Alongside Chris Pratt, the Super Mario Bros. Movie features Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Brie Larson as Rosalina, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. Matthew Fogel wrote the screenplay, and the film is produced by Chris Meledandri for Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. Brian Tyler is composing the music.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a huge success, earning around $1.36 billion worldwide. This made it the first movie based on a video game to reach over $1 billion, making it the highest-grossing video game adaptation ever. While it was once the third-highest-grossing animated film of all time, it now ranks sixth, behind films like Ne Zha 2, Zootopia 2, Inside Out 2, The Lion King, and Frozen II. Currently, it’s the 19th highest-grossing movie of all time when not accounting for inflation.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie arrives on April 3, 2026, from Universal Pictures.
