Robert Pattinson Drops Major The Batman 2 Filming Update

Highly anticipated, The Batman: Part II, directed by Matt Reeves, will once again star Robert Pattinson as Batman in a new detective story. The film also features a stellar cast including Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Sebastian Stan, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.

Robert Pattinson says filming for the next Batman movie will begin very soon. In an interview with GQ, he explained that he’s finishing up another film, and will immediately start work on ‘The Batman 2’ afterward. While he didn’t reveal exact dates, Pattinson mentioned he’s scheduled to work consistently until November of next year.

During the interview, Pattinson playfully shared that he spent time creating “lots and lots of atmospheric electronic music” while filming The Batman. He then described what that was like:

I have a favorite video of myself. It was taken while I was on breaks from filming Batman. I’d basically set up a little studio in my tent – headphones over the Batman cowl, making electronic music on an MPC sampler, and even vaping, all while still in costume! It was surprisingly hard to get the cowl off so I could put the headphones on, but I managed it. I actually considered releasing the video at one point. But you eventually realize you need to focus and decide what you want to be, you can’t try to be everything.

Although Robert Pattinson didn’t say anything about possibly making music during the filming of The Batman: Part II, he did share important news about when production will start. Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO, David Zaslav, had previously announced a spring 2026 start date, but Pattinson’s comments provided more detail.

After a few postponements, the movie is now scheduled to come out in October 2027. Director Reeves submitted the script, co-written with Mattlin Tomson, to DC Studios in the summer of 2025. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn called the story “fantastic.”

Reeves also expressed his enthusiasm, sharing that Pattinson was thrilled with their plans. Last fall, Reeves said they both feel they can expand on what they achieved in the first film and are eager to reunite with the original cast and crew.

He explained they kept the script very secure, inside a locked pouch with a code. Robert Pattinson was in New York at the time, and they have a lot of trust in him because he’s incredibly reliable.

The Batman: Part II releases on October 1, 2027.
