Chris Pratt’s 91%-Rated “Absolute Classic” Action Thriller ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ Shoots Onto New Streaming Home

While Chris Pratt’s latest film, Mercy, isn’t getting great reviews, a different action movie he starred in ten years ago was a big hit. Released in 2013, the film shows Pratt playing a Navy SEAL working to capture a notorious terrorist. It was praised by both critics and audiences as a classic, and now you can watch it again on Netflix.

Released in January 2013, Zero Dark Thirty is a gripping thriller that follows the ten-year hunt for Osama bin Laden after the September 11th attacks. Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow, the movie was a huge commercial success, earning well over its $50 million production cost. Beyond its financial success, Zero Dark Thirty received significant awards recognition, including five Oscar nominations and four Golden Globe nominations, winning one award from each.

Alongside Pratt, Zero Dark Thirty boasts an impressive cast including Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Joel Edgerton, Kyle Chandler, the late James Gandolfini, and Harold Perrineau. Their performances create a film that feels powerfully realistic and timely, particularly considering it came out just over a year after Osama bin Laden’s death. After the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks, Osama bin Laden became a global target. For nearly a decade, the U.S. government, under two presidents, focused intensely on finding him. Finally, a determined CIA operative (played by Chastain in the film) played a key role in tracking him down. In May 2011, Navy SEALs raided his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, and killed him.

Even though not everyone loved Mercy, Chris Pratt continues to be in high demand. He’s returning as the voice of Mario in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the sequel to the hugely successful 2023 film that earned over $1.3 billion worldwide. The new movie is predicted to be a major hit when it’s released this April.

I’m really excited to hear that Chris Pratt is returning to voice Garfield! The first movie was a hit last year, and they’re already working on a sequel – we can expect that one in 2027. But that’s not all – he’s also playing a Navy SEAL in a new movie called Way of the Warrior Kid which is coming to Apple TV. It sounds like a really cool story about an 11-year-old kid who overcomes bullying with the help of his uncle over the summer.
