Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, the popular duo from the 1990s, are teaming up again for a new movie called Kenan and Kel Meet Frankenstein. The film is expected to be a funny horror story that will remind audiences of their earlier work. The pair recently appeared together in Good Burger 2 (2023), a follow-up to their beloved 1997 film Good Burger, which started as a sketch on the Nickelodeon show All That.
With Frankenstein, however, Kenan and Kel are reimagining a Golden Age hit from 1948.

As reported by Variety, the movie centers on two delivery drivers whose simple job goes horribly wrong when they stumble upon a strange, isolated castle and unintentionally revive Frankenstein’s monster, forcing them to struggle to survive the night.
Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are creating a new horror comedy movie called ‘KENAN & KEL MEET FRANKENSTEIN’.
I was totally hooked by this movie! It’s about two guys just doing their delivery jobs, and things get crazy when they end up at a castle. They unintentionally wake up Frankenstein’s monster, and that’s when the real adventure begins! It’s a wild ride from there.

Fans of classic movies will immediately think of Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein when they hear this story. While it won’t be a shot-for-shot remake, the new film definitely uses the same kind of humor and relies on the classic pairing of a serious character and a funny one.
Kenan and Kel Discuss the Movie
Kenan and Kel revealed they’d be working on a project called Frankenstein during an appearance on the Amazon sports show Good Sports, co-hosted by Thompson and Kevin Hart. Mitchell filled in as a guest host for that episode. At the end of the show, they were joined by someone dressed as Frankenstein’s monster. This isn’t the first time the duo has combined horror and comedy, though – they previously starred in the 2000 TV movie Two Heads Are Better Than None.
Filming for the new movie is set to begin this summer, based on a script by Jonah Feingold. It will be co-produced by Artists for Artists, a company led by Thompson and John Ryan Jr. Ryan Jr. has described the movie’s concept as a blend of Shaun of the Dead and Scooby-Doo, and Thompson stated that the project offers a unique combination of familiar feelings, humor, and surprises.

You know, when Kenan and Kel reunite, it just works. They’ve got this amazing chemistry that fans clearly love, and they’re always up for a fun challenge. This time around, with their take on Frankenstein, they’re not just battling a classic monster, they’re also trying to live up to the legacy of two legendary comedic performers – pretty ambitious, right?
Following in Legendary Footsteps
Similar to Kenan and Kel, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were already a well-known comedy team when they made the movie Meet Frankenstein.
Abbott and Costello, famous for their comedy sketch “Who’s on First?”, began making movies with Universal Studios in 1940. In 1948, they starred in a hit film alongside classic Universal monsters like Lon Chaney Jr. as the Wolf Man and Béla Lugosi as Dracula. The movie was a big success, becoming one of Universal’s highest-grossing films that year and starting a popular series called Abbott and Costello Meet….

Released in 1948, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein is considered a classic comedy and a culturally important film – it was added to the National Film Registry in 2001. While it hasn’t been directly copied, it essentially created the formula for later movies that combined monsters, like The Monster Squad (1987) and Van Helsing (2004).
Although Kenan and Kel Meet Frankenstein might not become as famous as the original, it still captures the fun and energy of the classic film. Even better, it could help a new generation discover both classic monster movies and the enduring humor of Abbott and Costello’s work.
