The new show A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has broken HBO viewing records after its debut. The Game of Thrones spinoff premiered on January 18th and quickly became one of the most-watched series on HBO Max around the globe.
The premiere of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms drew 6.7 million viewers across HBO and HBO Max in its first three days, making it one of the top three most-watched premieres in HBO Max history. Only the first two seasons of House of the Dragon had bigger debuts, according to data from Warner Bros. Discovery and Nielsen.
Compared to other HBO series, House of the Dragon started strong in 2022, attracting almost 10 million viewers across HBO and HBO Max. However, the second season’s premiere in 2024 saw a slight decrease to 7.8 million viewers. The new series also had a larger debut than It: Welcome to Derry, which drew 5.7 million viewers in its first three days – making it one of HBO Max’s top three premiere series at the time.
