Sam Raimi names who will save him from an island between Spider-Man and Doctor Strange

Sam Raimi is a unique director because he’s directed superhero movies for both the Spider-Man and Marvel Cinematic Universes. He was behind the original Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire, which helped launch Marvel’s success. He later directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a particularly unusual and creative installment in the MCU.

Disney D23 recently shared a video on Instagram where Sam Raimi was asked to name the superhero he’d choose to rescue him if he were stranded on a deserted island.

Sam Raimi suggested Doctor Strange could rescue him from trouble much faster, pointing to Strange’s power to open portals for travel. While he enjoys Spider-Man, Raimi believes Spidey would be more useful operating in a city. Ultimately, he emphasized his reliance on Doctor Strange.

Although many people remember Sam Raimi for directing the Spider-Man movies, a different opportunity ultimately led him to direct Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Spider-Man and Doctor Strange team up in the movie Spider-Man: No Way Home. When a younger Spider-Man asks Doctor Strange for assistance, their actions unintentionally open up the multiverse and cause unexpected consequences.

Sam Raimi, known for directing The Evil Dead, has a new movie coming out. Called Send Help, it’s a horror-comedy starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, and it’s set to be released in the US on January 30, 2026.
