The novels of the recently deceased, highly successful author were incredibly popular and have been made into films and TV shows several times. The most famous adaptation was the 1994 movie Interview With the Vampire, which starred Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. Now, nearly thirty years later, AMC has created its own connected universe of stories and revisited the same novel, turning it into a television series.
After the impressive performance of the gothic fantasy series, AMC wisely broadened its world with Mayfair Witches. Then, in October 2025, came Talamasca: The Secret Order, and boy, did it take off! But as a viewer, I’m starting to get a little worried. While we’re all still hoping for a Season 2 announcement, the numbers on FlixPatrol suggest Talamasca is losing momentum on streaming, and that’s never a good sign.
As of January 21st, Talamasca: The Secret Order has dropped to tenth place on AMC+, falling five spots from the day before. The show’s ranking has been changing all week, and it appears to be finishing its run in the Top 10. Overall, Talamasca: The Secret Order has been among the top ten shows on the platform for 86 days.
John Lee Hancock developed a new supernatural horror spy series that differs from earlier versions. While Interview With the Vampire and Mayfair Witches are based on Anne Rice’s book series, Talamasca: The Secret Order isn’t adapted from a specific novel. Instead, it draws upon the entire history and mythology of the Vampire Chronicles universe.
The new series, Talamasca: The Secret Order, centers around Guy Anatole, who has the psychic power to read minds.
I recently learned about this fascinating character who gets pulled into the world of the Talamasca – they’re basically a secret organization dedicated to keeping the balance between humans and all sorts of supernatural creatures. Think vampires, demons, witches, ghosts… the whole lot! The Talamasca doesn’t just know about these beings, they actively monitor and control them, trying to prevent chaos. Apparently, he’s contacted by a woman named Helen who works for them, and that’s how his adventure begins.
Once he starts working for the organization as a covert agent, he’s dispatched to London to investigate Jasper, a vampire who has secretly entered the organization’s main base there.
The Immortal Universe Continues
The fate of “Talamasca: The Secret Order” remains unknown, as AMC hasn’t announced whether the show will get a second season. The six-episode series originally aired from October 26th to November 23rd. Despite finishing almost two months ago, the show continues to be popular with viewers.
Despite mixed reactions, the film generally received positive feedback, resulting in a favorable overall score. It currently has a 64% rating from critics and a 67% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The world of Anne Rice’s stories will continue with new seasons of both series. Season 3 of The Vampire Chronicles will air in summer 2026 on AMC and AMC+, and it will be based on the second book in the series. Fans can also expect Season 3 of Mayfair Witches to premiere sometime in 2026.
