Fans often debate which Star Trek movie is the worst, but Star Trek V: The Final Frontier is consistently near the top of the list. It’s widely considered a low point in the series and has earned the most Razzie Awards of any Star Trek film, though a more recent movie might challenge that title soon.
For decades, the Golden Raspberry Awards (or Razzies) have playfully honored the worst films of the year, and have sometimes even attracted the good-humored participation of the actors involved. While it’s unlikely any stars from the Star Trek universe will attend the 2026 ceremony, the newest Trek movie might break the franchise’s record for the most Razzie Awards.

Star Trek: Section 31 Earned 5 Golden Razzie Nominations
Bringing Star Trek back to the big screen has been difficult, and even with Michelle Yeoh starring, the Section 31 movie couldn’t overcome widespread criticism. Originally intended for streaming, it hasn’t performed well and is now on track to achieve a record no one involved would be proud of.
The Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies) have announced their 2026 nominations, and Star Trek: Section 31 almost topped the list! It received nominations in five categories.
Star Trek: Section 31’s Razzie Nominations
- Worst Picture
- Worst Actress – Michelle Yeoh
- Worst Supporting Actress – Kacey Rohl
- Worst Director – Olatunde Osunsanmi
- Worst Screenplay
With five nominations, the film nearly matches the leading contenders, Snow White and War of the Worlds, which both have six. While it seems unlikely to win more awards than War of the Worlds, especially considering that film’s initial negative reviews, it’s possible this Star Trek movie could become the most critically panned in the franchise’s history.

The Movie Has A Chance To Overtake Star Trek V: The Final Frontier’s Record For Most Razzies In The Franchise
As we discussed earlier, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier has won the most Razzie Awards of any film in the Star Trek series. While it’s not something to be proud of, it’s arguably better to be known for being bad than to be forgotten completely.

The first reviews for the new Star Trek series are in, and critics overwhelmingly agree on two key points: it’s a genuinely heartfelt and well-made show.
The film received the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Picture, and William Shatner was jokingly honored with two Razzies – for Worst Actor and Worst Director. Shatner has since admitted he wasn’t happy with the movie, saying it lacked the funding and strong storyline he’d envisioned.
It’s worth noting that Star Trek V: The Final Frontier received six Razzie nominations, giving it a greater chance of winning than Section 31. While it’s hard to predict if Michelle Yeoh will win a Worst Actress Razzie, other Oscar winners, like Sandra Bullock, have surprisingly won a Razzie in the same year they won an Academy Award. Ultimately, anything is possible, and we’ll find out on March 14th if Section 31 will become the most-awarded bad Trek movie ever.

Paramount+ offers streaming access to shows like Star Trek, with plans starting at $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year. You can choose between the Essential plan (with ads) at $7.99/month and the ad-free Premium plan at $12.99/month. For the best value, consider an annual subscription to save money while enjoying your favorite content.
You can watch Star Trek: Section 31 and The Final Frontier on Paramount+, and then decide which one you think is worse. We’ll be watching to see if either film gets nominated for a Razzie Award, and hopefully, fans can enjoy the results no matter what happens.
