Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, the beloved stars of the ’90s show Kenan & Kel and the Good Burger movies (with a possible third film on the way), are teaming up again! They’re bringing a fresh, funny twist to a classic horror comedy, and audiences are sure to laugh as they encounter a famous monster. The pair recently announced Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein, a new movie they’ll both star in and produce, with filming scheduled to begin this summer.
Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell revealed their next collaboration at the end of Tuesday night’s episode of Good Sports on Prime Video. Mitchell filled in as guest host while Kevin Hart was unavailable. Thompson later shared that he and Mitchell are always looking for new projects to do together, and this one—a new take on a classic monster story with a comedic twist—felt like a perfect fit. They’re both excited to bring a fresh and fun approach to the genre.
Mitchell explained that reuniting feels effortless, allowing them to build on what fans already enjoy while also exploring fresh ideas. He described the experience as both humorous and nerve-wracking, but ultimately very rewarding.
Jonah Feingold, known for his work on At Midnight and 31 Candles, is writing the screenplay for the new movie. Thompson and Mitchell are producing, along with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Carter Swan, and John Ryan Jr. Ryan Jr. told Variety they envision the film, Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein, as a comedic adventure in the style of Shaun of the Dead and Scooby-Doo, hoping the stars will build on the legacy of classic comedy duos like Abbott and Costello and Pryor and Wilder. Will Hariton, Azim Spicer, and Monica Weber are executive producers on the project.
