After 9 Years, J.K. Simmons’ 100% RT Sci-Fi Thriller Is a Must-Binge Masterpiece

I stumbled upon this show a while back, and even after almost ten years, it’s still incredible. It’s a real hidden gem – seriously, it has a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes! J.K. Simmons, who’s brilliant as always, stars in this gripping series that expertly mixes sci-fi and thriller elements. Trust me, once you start watching, you won’t be able to stop – it’s a total must-binge!

Although critics loved it when it first came out on Starz in 2017, this show only lasted for two seasons, ending in 2019. It’s now difficult to find, and while you can stream it on Prime Video, some episodes aren’t currently available due to licensing issues.

Counterpart Is A Hidden Gem Thriller Masterpiece – What It’s About

I was so impressed with J.K. Simmons after seeing him in Whiplash – what a performance! But then he landed a role in Counterpart, and it blew me away all over again. It’s one of the best sci-fi thrillers I’ve seen in years. He plays Howard Silk, a pretty regular guy who works for the government, and his life gets totally turned upside down when he finds a doorway to another world. It’s a really unique and captivating show.

I recently finished watching Counterpart, and it’s a really fascinating show. Jeremy Simmons is fantastic, and he’s joined by Olivia Williams – you might recognize her from Rushmore or the new Dune series. She plays Howard’s wife, Emily. The core idea is that Howard and Emily stumble upon the existence of parallel universes, and essentially, alternate versions of themselves – they call these versions ‘counterparts.’ What starts as this incredible, mind-bending discovery quickly spirals into a tense world of spy games and really deep questions about who we are.

9 Years Later, Counterpart Is Still A Must-Binge Thriller

Even though it came out nine years ago, Counterpart is a really great show to watch. It used to be available for free streaming on Prime Video, but now you can only buy the two seasons on the platform because the streaming rights have expired.

Right now, you can’t watch Counterpart for free online, but it will likely be available on a streaming service again soon. It might come back to Prime Video, or it could end up on another platform like Netflix.

Netflix has had good results bringing back popular shows that ended some time ago, like Southland, Veronica Mars, and Prison Break. If there’s enough interest, or if an actor from Counterpart gains attention in a new project, Counterpart could become a surprisingly successful hit on Netflix, finding a new audience through streaming.

I’m so glad you can still find Counterpart Season 1 on Prime Video! It’s available to rent – just $0.99 for standard definition or $2.99 for HD. Honestly, it’s a show you’ll want to revisit, and you can even buy it on DVD or Blu-ray from places like Amazon. No matter how you choose to watch it, I truly believe Counterpart is a thrilling series everyone, especially fans of J.K. Simmons, absolutely needs to binge!
