TT Games Issues Official Response to Divisive ‘LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight’ Release Specs Report

Fans were surprised by the recently revealed PC requirements for TT Games’ upcoming LEGO Batman game. Unlike previous LEGO titles, this new installment, Legacy of the Dark Knight, features an open world and a unique story drawing from decades of DC Comics history. Because of these advancements, expectations for PC hardware were already high, but the specifications listed on Steam caused TT Games to address the situation.

Gamers have pointed out that the PC requirements for the new LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight game on Steam are much more demanding than those of the previous LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. A comparison shared on X (formerly Twitter) shows the new game recommends significantly more RAM (24GB higher), a solid-state drive (SSD), and a much more powerful graphics card – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 RT – compared to the older game’s GTX 780 or Radeon R9 290.

Even though LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga came out four years ago, players noticed that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight needed surprisingly powerful computers to run, considering the game’s type.

Following the recent feedback, TT Games Community Manager Gehan Amaranayake addressed fan concerns on Discord. He explained that information posted on Steam isn’t always final, as the team needs to provide placeholder content to enable pre-orders and wishlists for the game.

Gehan Amaranayake explained that Steam requires them to have some kind of placeholder available for people to add the game to their wishlists and place pre-orders.

The community manager has reassured players that the previously shared PC specs for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight aren’t final. Since the game isn’t launching until May 29th, TT Games still has time to refine things. The official hardware requirements will be released when the game is fully finished.

Will LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Be Hardware Heavy?

TT Games has reassured players that the recently revealed PC requirements aren’t set in stone, but the game is still likely to require more powerful hardware than previous titles. The big question now is just how much more powerful a computer you’ll need.

This new LEGO game is more complex than previous ones, featuring an open world and fluid combat and stealth mechanics – features never before seen in LEGO games. These changes are designed to celebrate Batman’s rich history, particularly the successful gameplay found in the Batman: Arkham series. Because of these advanced features, the game may require more powerful hardware to run smoothly.

The main story of the game takes about 15 hours to complete, similar to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. But because the game has a large open world and lots of extra things to find, like different Batsuits and Batmobiles, players who want to collect everything will probably spend a lot more time playing.

A key factor influencing the system requirements for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is TT Games’ updated game engine. After developing The Skywalker Saga with their own engine, TT Games switched to Unreal Engine 5 for Legacy of the Dark Knight. This change in technology likely contributes to the need for more powerful hardware to run the new game.
