This New Luke Skywalker LEGO Set Features New Tech That Is Sure To Be A Disturbance In The Force

For many of us, LEGO Star Wars sets have been a constant throughout our lives – it’s hard to remember a time when you couldn’t build scenes from the Star Wars universe with LEGO bricks! Over the years, they’ve released everything from huge, detailed Death Stars to classic ships and characters. Now, this partnership is entering a new phase, and I’m really excited to see what comes next.

This Luke Skywalker Red Five X-Wing is one of the first LEGO sets to use the new SMART Play system, and it’s truly impressive! The build is so innovative, it feels like a major leap forward for LEGO. I’ll walk you through all the details and explain how this new technology could change the way we build with LEGO forever.

This LEGO Star Wars Set Has All You Need To Recreate One Of Cinema’s Greatest Moments

Let’s talk about the new LEGO X-Wing set, which you can pre-order now and will ship in early March. First, it’s incredibly detailed! It closely resembles Luke Skywalker’s iconic fighter from Star Wars: A New Hope, and even includes details like battle damage. This set, while not huge, has everything you need to build a scene from the famous trench run, including the X-Wing itself, Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 figures, and one of the large guns used to defend the Death Star.

Okay, so this set doesn’t come with the Death Star trench or extra ships – you’ll have to buy those separately, unfortunately. But honestly, it has everything you need to really feel like you’re stepping into Luke Skywalker’s shoes and experiencing his journey to becoming a Jedi. It’s a really immersive set!

So, about that SMART Play system and how this tech makes it unlike anything else…

LEGO’s New Smart Play Tech Makes This More Than Your Standard X-Wing

In 2026, LEGO launched its SMART Play system, the next step in the evolution of its classic building bricks. While these sets still include the familiar bricks and minifigures fans adore, they also feature new, high-tech components that offer a more advanced building experience than traditional LEGO sets like the X-Wing.

This LEGO set includes a special “SMART Brick” that brings the X-Wing to life with lights and sounds, and lets it connect to other new pieces. It also features two interactive minifigures – Luke and Leia – and several “SMART tags.” These tags can be used to activate features like the Imperial turret, the Rebel transporter, and R2-D2. Now you can even recreate the playful banter between Luke and R2-D2 as they journeyed to the Death Star!
