Netflix Is Completely Erasing Its Masterpiece Reboot of an ’80s Sci-Fi Classic She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

Get ready to say goodbye to She-Ra and the Princesses of Power! One of the most popular animated reboots in recent years is leaving Netflix soon, and it’s unclear if it will be available to stream anywhere else in the future. You only have a few weeks left to watch it!

You can only stream She-Ra and the Princesses of Power on Netflix, and it will be removed from the platform on February 21st. Unfortunately, despite running for five seasons, only three have ever been available to buy or rent on disc or through digital stores.

Because of this, even viewers who already have the entire series on DVD or Blu-ray won’t be able to watch all of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power legally once it’s removed from Netflix.

Created by ND Stevenson, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018) reimagined the classic story with a more modern feel. The show centers on Adora, who begins as a soldier for the villainous Hordak. Her life changes completely when she finds a magical sword and gains the power to transform into She-Ra.

Throughout the series, Adora works to save the world of Eternia from total destruction, all while trying to reconnect with her friend Catra, who remains loyal to a villainous leader. The show boasts a talented voice cast, including Aimee Carrero as Adora, AJ Michalka as Catra, Karen Fukuhara as Princess Glimmer, and many others, featuring stars like Sandra Oh and even the series creator, ND Stevenson.

What Did Critics and Audiences Think of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power?

During its five-season run on Netflix, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power received widespread praise from both critics and viewers. The series earned sixteen award nominations and won four, including a 2020 Daytime Emmy for promotional work and a 2021 GLAAD Media Award for its kids and family programming.

As a huge animation fan, I’ve been following She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and it’s consistently gotten amazing reviews. Right now, Rotten Tomatoes gives the whole series a ‘Fresh’ rating of 96%! If you look at the seasons individually, they’re all really well-regarded – Season 2 is the ‘lowest’ with 87%, but Seasons 1, 3, and 4 all scored a perfect 100% – which is pretty incredible!

Viewers generally loved She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, giving it an 84% score on the “Popcornmeter.” Each season also received high marks, ranging from a low of 73% for Season 1 to a high of 89% for Season 4. Season 5 scored 85%, and both Seasons 2 and 3 earned an 87% rating.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power will be available for streaming on Netflix until Feb. 21.
