Over the years, this popular series has sparked many fan gatherings and conventions. A new event has just been revealed, and it will feature a special, exclusive collectible figure of one of the franchise’s most famous robots.
Bandai Spirits is hosting a new event called METAL BUILD EXPO this spring in Japan’s main center for anime and electronics fans. The event will showcase their popular line of pre-painted action figures and feature an exclusive collectible toy based on the final mobile suit from a popular series.
Bandai’s First Metal Build Event Delivers an Exclusive Gundam Action Figure

A special event celebrating Bandai’s METAL BUILD collectibles is coming to Akihabara, Japan! The METAL BUILD EXPO will be held at the TAMASHII NATIONS STORE TOKYO from March 27th to July 6th. To mark the occasion, a limited-edition collectible based on the original Gundam movie will be released.
I’m so excited about the METAL BUILD Hi-ν Gundam that was shown at the EXPO! It’s based on the novel Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack – Beltorchika’s Children, which itself is inspired by the classic anime movie Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack. This version really leans into the blue color scheme, and it has these amazing funnel joint parts that let you mount all the funnels on one side – it looks incredible! Plus, it’s packed with weapons like the Beam Rifle, New Hyper Bazooka, and Beam Sabers. They even made the propellant tanks removable, which makes it way easier to pose and play with. It’s a dream come true for any Hi-ν fan!
The Hi-ν Gundam METAL BUILD figure, first shown at METAL BUILD EXPO, will be widely available in March for around $275 (39,600 yen). It will be available to purchase starting January 22nd at 4 p.m. Japan Standard Time for Club Tamashii Members at the ‘Ocean Stage’ level or higher, and then to all Club Tamashii Members on January 27th at 4 p.m. JST.
The METAL BUILD line features fully assembled action figures, not model kits. They’re known for their incredible detail, poseability, and durable metal parts. While often pricier than traditional Gunpla, they cover a wide range of anime series and storylines within the franchise. Bandai Spirits has also created METAL BUILD figures from other popular mecha anime.
