Big news for animation fans! I just heard from Holly Hunter that voice recording for Incredibles 3 is starting up soon. Pixar officially confirmed the sequel at D23, which is fantastic. However, there’s a change behind the camera – Brad Bird, who directed the first two Incredibles films, won’t be directing this time. He is writing the script, thankfully, but Peter Sohn – the director of The Good Dinosaur and Elemental – is taking the director’s chair. Still, with Bird on writing duty, I’m cautiously optimistic about where he’ll take the Parr family next!
Holly Hunter, who voices Elastigirl in the Incredibles movies, recently shared an update on Incredibles 3 with Screen Rant. While promoting her work on Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, Hunter revealed she’s expected to start recording her lines for the sequel in March. She hasn’t seen the script yet, but will receive it when she begins recording. She didn’t share any details about what the movie will be about.
I’m usually kept in the dark about the plot of The Incredibles. I record my lines with Brad Bird, or whoever is directing, but I never know the full story beforehand. I believe he’s been working on the script this time, which is really exciting.
When Will ‘Incredibles 3’ Be Released?

Buena Vista Pictures Distribution
Pixar, a studio once celebrated for its original movies, has recently relied more on sequels. While films like Elemental and Elio haven’t performed well in theaters, especially after Disney+ became a factor during the pandemic, Pixar’s biggest hits are all sequels – including Inside Out 2, Incredibles 2, Finding Dory, Toy Story 4, and Toy Story 3. The studio continues this trend with Incredibles 3 and has plans for Toy Story 5 in 2026, as well as a sequel to Coco currently in development.
There’s no official release date for Incredibles 3 yet. Currently, Pixar’s last scheduled movie is Gatto, coming to theaters on March 5, 2027. According to Pete Docter, both Incredibles 3 and Coco 2 are planned for release in 2028 or later. Incredibles 3 could potentially arrive in 2028, marking a decade since Incredibles 2 (2018) and 24 years since the original The Incredibles (2004).
