Kevin O’Leary Wants To Play A Bond Villain, But I’m More Focused On The Big 007 Suggestion He Made

Most people know Kevin O’Leary as a successful entrepreneur and TV personality from shows like Shark Tank, but he recently added acting to his list of talents. He made his first film appearance a few weeks ago in Marty Supreme, where he starred alongside Timothée Chalamet – and even shared a scene involving a paddleball spanking! Now, O’Leary hopes to continue acting, specifically by playing a villain in a James Bond movie. However, what I found most interesting was his overall idea for the future of the 007 franchise.

Ahead of the Golden Globe winners being announced on Sunday night, Kevin O’Leary spoke with AP Entertainment about how he’s “caught the acting bug” following his experience on Marty Supreme and now has his eyes set on the James property. In his words:

Having experienced this, I’m eager to do it again, and I have a clear vision of what I want. I’m comfortable asking for it, so why not go for it? I want to play the villain in a James Bond movie, and I believe I could bring a unique and compelling performance to the role.

James Bond is famously British, despite a brief moment when it seemed an American actor might take the role. The character has always faced villains from around the world, and now that Kevin O’Leary has demonstrated his acting ability in Marty Supreme, he could potentially appear in a Bond film. While he likely wouldn’t be cast as the main villain, he’d be a good fit for an early opponent Bond needs to overcome.

Whether or not Jack O’Leary joins the next James Bond film, he also suggested it’s time for a woman to take on the role of the iconic character created by Ian Fleming, stating:

I’d like to reimagine James Bond as a woman this time around. I also think we could explore a more complex dynamic between good and evil, a real sense of darkness. Frankly, I’ve felt something was missing since the 1960s, and I believe I can bring a truly compelling villain to life.

The debate over whether James Bond should be played by a woman began as Daniel Craig’s run as 007 neared its end. While some, including businessman Kevin O’Leary and a British intelligence professional, support a female Bond, others – like Craig and his former co-star Gemma Arterton – believe the character should remain male. Producer Barbara Broccoli previously stated Bond would always be a man, but with Amazon MGM now owning the franchise, it’s uncertain if that will continue to be the case.
