Plot: A catastrophe occurs as a meteor hits a tiny town, rendering the surroundings inhospitable and causing the death of all living beings within the vicinity.

Story: The narrative unfolds as a meteor impact triggers a lethal biological disaster in a quaint town. Colonel Emmerich (Campbell) enlists Lauren Stone (Schalmo) and David Santiago (Trujillo) for an investigation. Yet, to their surprise, some of the town’s residents start rising from the dead.

Lauren finds herself fighting against her previous substance abuse issues and haunting nightmares as she takes charge of the investigation. Yet, there’s also a struggle at hand – concealing or revealing the truth for the greater good of humanity, as the military urges swiftness.

Verdict on Risen

The film centers around a group of military researchers examining a strange occurrence in a quaint town. As the locals meet a grisly end, some mysteriously rise again under the influence of an extraterrestrial power. We join a once-discredited scientist on his quest to unravel the mystery before it escalates beyond control.

Best Parts

The intrigue surrounding the incident adds appeal, while Lauren’s challenging past gives her journey an added layer of interest.

Worst Parts

The film seems like an imitation of Arrival, lacking its most compelling aspects. It’s perceived as just another military threat scenario, with scientists eager to study the battle. Unfortunately, nothing feels original, innovative, or distinctly different. In truth, it appears more like the pilot episode of a potentially captivating TV series, as it could have delved deeper into various aspects throughout the storyline.

Final Thoughts –Risen struggles to escape the shadow of the superior Arrival.
