Ever since Ryan Guzman started appearing on the show in season two, viewers have passionately hoped for a romantic connection between his character, Eddie, and Oliver Stark’s character, Buck, affectionately calling them “Buddie.” The pairing even received a shout-out on Pop Culture Jeopardy! Both actors have hinted they wouldn’t be opposed to the storyline. After Buck came out in the show’s 100th episode, fans felt a relationship was finally within reach. I’ve been hoping to see Buck and Eddie become a couple ever since the show’s second season started in 2018. It’s frustrating that it hasn’t happened yet, especially since it seems like most fans and the show itself are open to the idea.

Even if the show does explore a romantic relationship between Buck and Eddie, it likely won’t happen right away. Buck identifies as bisexual, but Eddie currently appears to be straight, meaning he would need to come to terms with his own sexuality first. Rushing them into a relationship, no matter how much fans desire it, probably wouldn’t feel genuine or well-developed.

While a romantic relationship for Buck and Eddie isn’t currently planned, their friendship remains a highlight of 9-1-1. Fans love seeing their interactions, both on and off the job.
