Stranger Things Stars Predicted Controversial Finale 3 Years Ago

Okay, so after nearly ten years, Stranger Things has officially signed off, and let me tell you, the finale was intense. The last season really put Hawkins, Indiana through the wringer as Eleven and the gang faced off against the Abyss. Honestly, the final moments have sparked a lot of debate online, especially regarding a certain character’s fate – it’s definitely a controversial one. But, in fairness, the show’s stars had hinted at big changes coming, so it wasn’t entirely out of the blue. It was a fitting, if somewhat heartbreaking, end to a cultural phenomenon.

It’s true – we were actually told what would happen in the Stranger Things finale years ago! Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp pretty much revealed the ending in detail three years prior, but at the time, no one paid much attention. A recent interview with The Wrap highlighted exactly how they let the spoilers slip.

Millie Bobby Brown & Noah Schnapp Totally Called It

Spoilers started to leak at the end of the interview when Brown and Schnapp were asked about their hopes for the fifth season. They revealed that they believe a main character needs to die before the show ends.

I have a lot of faith in the Duffer Brothers and how they approach storytelling,” Millie Bobby Brown explained. “Their vision for my character, Eleven, has consistently impressed me, and I’ve always backed their decisions. However, she then revealed a significant concern: “The biggest issue is that we’re all worried someone in the cast might die.”

“One of us will die,” Schnapp added before Brown added the following tidbit:

She strongly believes the show needs more significant character deaths. “It’s gotten too big, and they need to be willing to kill people off,” she explained. She criticized the Duffer Brothers for being hesitant to eliminate characters, stating, “They need to think like Game of Thrones – just kill characters off!” She pointed out that they even attempted to kill off David Harbour’s character, only to bring him back, which she found absurd.

Does that ring a bell? If you’ve been watching the popular Netflix series, what the actors are saying might seem like you’ve heard it before.

Stranger Things’ Controversial Finale Will Sting for Years to Come

Fans who’ve finished Stranger Things will remember Eleven appearing to sacrifice herself in the final battle against Vecna and the Upside Down. She stays behind to close the gate to that terrifying dimension, leaving her friends and family heartbroken. The series jumps forward 18 months, showing Hawkins still recovering, and Mike and his friends trying to figure out if Eleven somehow managed to survive.

The ending of Stranger Things, where Eleven seemingly died, deeply affected viewers and continues to be a major topic of discussion. Fans have been sharing both positive and negative reactions to this surprising turn of events. While Eleven’s loss is significant, actress Millie Bobby Brown points out the show needed a major shake-up, and she and Noah Schnapp knew a character death like this was coming back in 2023. Now, everyone else is having to accept this new reality, even if it’s difficult.
