Superhero movies and shows remain incredibly popular, and the recent launch of the new DC Universe (DCU) under James Gunn is a big reason why. While the first wave of DCU projects, called ‘Gods and Monsters,’ has already given us a few shows and a movie (available on HBO Max), many fans still have a strong connection to the previous DC films. A recent photo posted by director Zack Snyder featuring Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg, sparked a lot of online discussion, with most fans expressing the same sentiment.
Zack Snyder recently started using Instagram and has been sharing pictures of actors from his DC Universe films, including Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Ray Fisher. Fisher is well-known for his role as Cyborg, particularly in Snyder’s version of Justice League, where his character had a very impactful storyline. Snyder just posted a new photo of Fisher as Victor Stone, which you can see below.

The photo is really eye-catching. Instead of a full cyborg look, Joe Fisher is shown covering part of his face with his hand, and he’s wearing Victor Stone’s Gotham City University letterman jacket. Snyder shared the image on Instagram, where it quickly generated a lot of comments.
Fans of Zack Snyder are incredibly dedicated, as demonstrated by their long fight to release the ‘Snyder Cut.’ Because of this, the comments on this post are lively, with many people urging Warner Bros. to continue Snyder’s vision – the ‘#RestoreTheSnyderVerse’ – and to bring back Ray Fisher as Cyborg in the new DC Universe. Here are a few of the most popular comments:
- Ray fisher is a Underrated Actor 😢 – zacksnyderfans
- #restorethesnyderverse 🙏🏽 – the.jayrod
- We need cyborg flash movie #restorethesnyderverse – akkizac019
- Don’t tease us. Make it happen – chandra_purba
- We need more! #restorethesnyderverse – chris7aton
Given the filmmaker’s previous work and the reactions of his fans after the release of his version of Justice League, this current response isn’t unexpected. Immediately following the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, fans began a campaign using the hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderVerse, hoping the studio would continue Snyder’s vision. While there’s no sign the studio is considering this, especially with James Gunn’s new DC Universe just getting started, fans are still actively making their wishes known.
It’s unknown what James Gunn has in store for Cyborg, including whether or not the character will appear in future DC films or television series. The previous DC Extended Universe was essentially erased with the start of Peacemaker season two, which also meant the end of Ray Fisher’s portrayal of the character.

HBO Max offers streaming access to DC Comics content – including the DCU, DCEU, and classic titles – as well as a vast library of movies, shows, and documentaries. Plans begin at $10.99 per month (with ads). See the deal here.
Ray Fisher delivered a strong performance as Cyborg in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but his work was somewhat lost amidst the controversy surrounding his accusations against Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. Although it doesn’t seem likely he’ll reprise the role in future DC movies, Fisher has continued to collaborate with Snyder on the Rebel Moon series, which is available to stream on Netflix.
You can currently watch Fisher’s work in both versions of Justice League on HBO Max. He also has several upcoming film projects scheduled for release in 2026 and beyond.
