The Canadian sports drama Heated Rivalry sparked a funny debate after Cohen and Cooper, both having had a bit to drink, started talking about the show’s characters. They playfully discussed who would play whom if they were in the show, with Cohen claiming he’d be Shane (played by Hudson Williams) and his friend, Cooper, would be Ilya (Connor Storrie).
Cooper didn’t agree with Cohen’s choices for who should play which character. He insisted he’d be a better fit for the role of Kip, even jokingly saying, “What? I’m not either of them. I’m Kip!” This amusing moment got the attention of both Robbie G.K., who played Kip, and Rachel Reid, the author of the book Game Changers that Heated Rivalry is based on.

The discussion started when the hosts jokingly talked about a gift Andy Cohen had given Anderson Cooper – a bed frame that Cooper didn’t want to use. Cooper admitted he felt awkward about sleeping in it, so he relegated it to the guest room.
Cohen explained the gift was meant to bring them closer, playfully suggesting it made them feel “like better brothers.” Cooper clarified that the gift wasn’t intended to be suggestive or romantic, emphasizing it wasn’t about a competitive or heated dynamic.
The popular series Heated Rivalry is coming back! Crave and HBO Max confirmed a second season in December 2025. It’s expected to continue the story from the book The Long Game, also by the original author. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, many believe the new season will arrive in either 2027 or 2028.
