A previously cut scene from the movie ‘Superman’ featuring Krypto injuring Edi Gathegi’s character, Mister Terrific, has reappeared online. Although this particular scene was omitted from the film’s final release, it highlights some characteristics of Superman’s dog.
Krypto and Mister Terrific’s deleted scenes hinted by Superman set video
A video from June 2024 showcasing a cut scene with Superman hints at appearances by Krypto and Mister Terrific (Michael Holt). Although the clip lacks background information, it seems that in this scene, Mister Terrific is trying to get Supergirl’s dog, Krypto, to follow him. Comically, things appear to take a turn for the worse as Mister Terrific may have been accidentally harmed by Krypto’s heat vision.
At DCUPRIMETV, the account previously known as Twitter, posted several behind-the-scenes photos from the movie set. Some of these images match scenes that were included in the film’s post-credits sequence. In one photo, Mister Terrific seems to have a bandaged foot with blood, possibly hinting at the injury he suffered during his run-in with Krypto.
According to Gathegi, the scene mentioned earlier wasn’t planned to be included after the credits in the original version of the film. He added, “I wasn’t involved in the decision-making process, but I find it thrilling because it feels like a promise to the audience.
In the process of creating Krypto, Gunn and his team utilized motion capture, drawing significant inspiration from Gunn’s own dog, Ozu. Consequently, although Ozu isn’t visible in the video, he would have been incorporated if the scene ultimately found its way onto the screen. Regrettably, that scene was discarded during editing.
In numerous interviews, Gunn has labeled Krypto as the “most troublesome canine” and shared insights about using his experience with Ozu to shape this character. It’s intriguing that, based on recent news articles, Krypto seems to have sparked an increase in Google searches for “Find a Dog for Adoption Near Me” (as reported by IGN).
Superman is currently playing in theaters.
