Korean dramas, or K-dramas, have a lot of exciting projects planned through 2026, featuring many popular actors. One upcoming series, airing on MBC in South Korea and streaming on Disney+, will bring together IU, widely considered one of K-pop’s biggest stars who also acts in K-dramas, and Byeon Woo-seok.
The upcoming series, Perfect Crown, stars IU as Sung Hee-joo, the secretly born daughter of a wealthy and influential family. She falls for Prince Yi Ahn, played by Byeon Woo-seok, and takes the unusual step of proposing to him herself.
With popular stars IU, fresh off a highly anticipated 2025 K-drama, and Byeon Woo-seok, known for his success in 2024 and the upcoming Solo Leveling series, this year promises to be huge. The series is directed by Park Joon-hwa, who previously worked on the popular drama Alchemy of Souls, adding to the already considerable excitement.
Perfect Crown Will Stream on Disney+ in 2026
Although we only know the show will air in the first half of 2026 and be available on Disney+, there’s still a lot to look forward to. Because it’s set in an alternate historical setting, this project promises a fresh and different approach compared to the director’s and writer’s previous work, which often focused on traditional Korean history.
The cast revealed so far includes the following:
- IU as Sung Hee-joo
- Byeon Woo-seok as Prince Yi Ahn
- Noh Sang-hyun as Min Jeong-woo
- Gong Seung-yeon as Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang
- Lee Yeon as Do Hye-jeong
Yoo Su-bin and Chae Seo-an are also starring in the series, though their roles haven’t been revealed yet. The latest trailer for Perfect Crown shows a unique blend of historical costumes and modern technology, making it a standout addition to the promising 2026 release schedule.
K-Dramas Are Blowing Up in 2026
As K-dramas gain popularity around the world, many well-known actors are returning in major new shows. This trend continues with exciting webtoon adaptations now available on Disney+, including Portraits of Delusion, based on the Delusion manhwa and starring Bae Suzy and Kim Seon-ho, and The Remarried Empress, which features Shin Min-ah.
Fans will be thrilled with a year packed with stars from popular K-dramas like Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Start-Up, Lovely Runner, and When Life Gives You Tangerines. With the addition of Solo Leveling, South Korea’s next big Netflix series poised to attract both anime enthusiasts and new viewers, streaming platforms are likely to experience a surge in traffic.
