Stranger Things Finale Prediction: Who Will Die in Season 5 Vol. 3?

The final episodes of Stranger Things are almost here, and fans are incredibly anxious to see how the story ends. The anticipation is even higher because Milly Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, has said this will be her last time venturing into the Upside Down.

Even though everyone anticipates Vecna (played by Jamie Campbell Bower) being defeated, Eleven appears determined to sacrifice herself to make sure it happens. However, she isn’t the only character facing potential danger, and losing anyone else would be equally heartbreaking.

Hopper is Never Going to Let Eleven Sacrifice Herself in the Upside-Down

Jim Hopper, played by David Harbour, has been a crucial character in Stranger Things since the very start. While he might not be the strongest or smartest of the main characters, Hopper has repeatedly shown he can overcome even overwhelming odds and win.

Perhaps even more significantly, Hopper has consistently shown Eleven the same fierce devotion he felt for his own daughter. Having lost everything – his family and nearly his own life – to overwhelming grief, Hopper saw Eleven as a chance for a brighter future.

Given how dedicated Hopper has been to shielding Eleven and getting her ready for future challenges, it’s likely he’ll do whatever it takes to intervene when he discovers her plan for their last confrontation. If he can reach her before she goes through with it, he’d probably even take her place, sacrificing himself instead.

Will Byers’ Entire Journey Has Been Leading to One Final Fight Against Vecna

When Stranger Things begins, Noah Schnapp’s character, Will Byers, is immediately thrown into a terrifying situation. At only 12 years old, he’s kidnapped by a monster called the Demogorgon and taken to a dangerous alternate dimension called the Upside Down, where he becomes infected with a mysterious substance.

As a huge fan, I’ve been so invested in Will’s journey over the last five seasons. It’s been incredible watching him transform from this scared little kid into someone truly strong and capable. It took almost a decade, but he’s finally come into his own and understood the extent of his powers. Now, he’s determined to be part of the ultimate showdown with Vecna, and honestly, it feels like this final battle could decide everything for him.

It’s now clear that Vecna had a particular interest in Will, as he was the first person whose mind Vecna successfully invaded. However, Will’s actions – most recently, severely injuring Vecna’s leg from within – have made him a major threat to Vecna.

Despite his natural link to Vecna and the immense power that comes with it, Will lacks practical experience in fighting the creatures of the Abyss. While he knows the Upside Down better than anyone, now that viewers understand it’s not the true origin of the series’ threats, it’s clear Will is outmatched.

Max Mayfield Could Be Vecna’s Biggest Target in the Stranger Things Series Finale

Sadie Sink’s character, Max Mayfield, first appeared in Season 2 of Stranger Things and is a character many fans would be shocked to see die in the final episodes. While her potential fate isn’t entirely surprising, it’s largely due to the hardship she’s already endured. In the Season 4 finale, when Vecna possessed Max, she became the fourth opening that allowed him to tear Hawkins apart.

Even though Max appeared to be in a coma, she was actually trapped in a trance within Vecna’s mind, and she continued to fight him. She was the one who figured out the layout of his mental world, found the cave he avoided, and almost helped Holly escape. Max also created conflict among Vecna’s newest victims, which made him angrier and more dangerous than anyone else in Stranger Things had ever experienced.

It’s not that Vecna feels more strongly about Max than any other character, or that she’s been more important to the story overall. It’s simply that Max holds a unique place in Vecna’s thoughts – one that no one else from Hawkins does. She wasn’t just an obstacle to his plans, or another person experimented on by Brenner; she was the one who figured out and used his vulnerabilities against him.

As a huge fan of Stranger Things, I keep hoping Max will make it through the final episodes, and honestly, that’s true for all the main characters. But, let’s be real, a lot of hints point towards her facing a really tough time, and I don’t think she’ll come out of this without some serious consequences. She’s already caused Vecna a lot of trouble, even as a regular human, so I fully expect him to target her just as much as anyone else.

The final episode of Stranger Things premieres on Netflix on December 31.
