Twilight Cast Reveals Struggles Behind Iconic Baseball Scene

The Twilight Saga became a global phenomenon, and the film adaptation with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson remains popular, with many scenes still frequently discussed. One particularly memorable example is the baseball game, where the Cullen family tries to act normal by playing a game during a thunderstorm.

As a huge cinema fan, I recently came across something really interesting! At Motor City Comic Con, ScreenRant hosted a Q&A with Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen), Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen), and Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Cullen) from Twilight. They were talking about the famous baseball scene, and it turns out not everyone loved filming it – apparently, it wasn’t all sparkling vampires and fun!

Everyone on set really disliked filming the baseball scene, but we’re so happy with how it turned out! It’s definitely one of my favorite scenes – and I think a lot of us feel that way – but it was incredibly cold. It was one of the first things we shot together, and the conditions were rough. There weren’t any heated tents to warm us up, and we were out in the cold rain, to the point where it felt like our faces were freezing.

Peter Facinelli recalled the first days of filming being rough. It rained a lot, and the makeup kept running, leading the cast to believe the movie would be a disaster. They went home nearly every night feeling defeated, but they were ultimately proven wrong.

Ashley Greene admitted she fibbed about knowing how to play baseball to land a role. She’d never actually played before, but when asked if she could, she confidently said yes. She quickly found out after getting the job that she definitely didn’t have the skills!

The popular Twilight Saga films are based on Stephanie Meyer’s novels and quickly became a global phenomenon. A memorable baseball scene required a thunderstorm to mask the sounds of the vampires playing. Featured in the first Twilight movie released in 2008, the series faced a lot of criticism but still earned over $3.36 billion worldwide across its five films.

Greene remembers filming the famous scene very differently than her fellow actors, recalling it with warmth. Although she felt unprepared, her pitch during the scene has become widely celebrated around the world.

The young adult film helped launch the careers of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, both of whom are now starring in big-budget Hollywood movies. Stewart has also recently stepped behind the camera, directing a critically acclaimed film called The Chronology of Water.

As a movie lover, I have to admit The Twilight Saga really stuck with people, didn’t it? It still gets a lot of flak, but there’s also a huge amount of affection for it – and honestly, a lot of us secretly enjoy it, even if we don’t always admit it! It’s become a real cultural touchstone for so many around the world.
