A 15-Season Dark Fantasy “Masterpiece” Just Landed on Streaming, and It’s Already Dominating

Fans of dark fantasy have a lot of excellent TV options right now, including epic series like The Wheel of Time and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, magical shows like Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and beloved classics like American Gothic. But if you’re looking for a truly long and captivating dark fantasy experience, Supernatural is a top pick.

Fans can once again stream the adventures of Sam and Dean Winchester! Supernatural is quickly becoming popular on Peacock, after becoming available there following its removal from Netflix. It’s currently the most-watched show on the streaming service. Originally debuting on The WB in 2005, the dark fantasy series moved to The CW after its first season and continued there for another 14 seasons.

Starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, Supernatural followed two hunters dedicated to tracking down and battling supernatural creatures. As the title suggests, the show combined dark fantasy and horror elements with exciting action and clever humor. With 15 seasons, Supernatural proved to be hugely popular, earning three Primetime Emmy nominations and maintaining a 93% average rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While some longtime viewers became more critical over the years, many still consider it a masterpiece, even five years after the series finale.

The series centers on brothers Sam and Dean Winchester as they navigate a frightening world filled with monsters. Driven by the supernatural death of their mother, they were trained by their father to hunt down demonic and mysterious creatures. Throughout their investigations, Sam and Dean grapple with painful memories and secrets that strain their relationship. As their familiar methods fail and they face betrayal, the brothers must depend on each other to survive encounters with new, dangerous foes.
