Stranger Things Season 5 Vol. 2 Continues A Shocking Character Trend

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Stranger Things season 5, Volume 2!

The second part of Stranger Things season 5 surprisingly avoided killing off any main characters, and even lacked near-death experiences. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean everyone in Hawkins will have a happy fate as the series comes to a close.

While the first two parts of the Netflix series were full of surprises and shocking moments, they were likely just a prelude to the main event. The final episode of Stranger Things is confirmed to be over two hours long, suggesting a lot more action is coming. With the entire world in danger, season 5 of Stranger Things is really just getting started.

There Are Still No Major Character Deaths In Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2

Fans expected some major characters to die in the second part of the season, but those deaths might be saved for the very end. Surprisingly, season 5 has been relatively safe for the characters we thought were in the most danger, with many surviving so far. While Vecna returned in the first part, a recent episode saw Max recover and reunite with Lucas.

Okay, so let’s talk stakes. We’ve been promised real danger in this season, but so far, the closest we’ve gotten to a major character biting the dust was when Nancy and Jonathan found themselves in a seriously tight spot – trapped in a room rapidly filling with this creepy, unknown fluid. Honestly, it looked like they were goners. But, in a twist, it wasn’t their lives on the line, it was their relationship that ultimately drowned in that white stuff. Talk about a dramatic breakup!

Will occasionally passed out from using too much energy, but he always seemed okay afterwards. Hopper worried when Will willingly put himself in danger with grenades in the first season, ready to make a huge sacrifice. Luckily, Will ended up being alright.

We haven’t seen any main characters die, and the terrifying Mind Flayer has completely disappeared. It’s possible the creature is holding back, preparing for a major confrontation in the final episodes. Perhaps it will be central to resolving the show’s recent avoidance of character deaths.

What No Deaths In Volumes 1 & 2 Mean for Stranger Things’ Series Finale

With just one episode of Stranger Things remaining, and a big final battle on the horizon, we can expect some characters won’t make it through. Creator Matt Duffer warned TODAY that viewers should prepare themselves – suggesting the finale will be intense and potentially heartbreaking.

The second volume concludes with the main characters heading towards their confrontation with Vecna. Seeing them all together for such a critical moment suggests someone might not survive.

Even with the big showdown against the villain coming up, it seems likely the show will end with the death of the character who started it all – a fan favorite. Kali predicted Eleven’s fate, and it appears both of them will need to make the ultimate sacrifice to finally stop the experiments. This seems like the only way to permanently end the terrifying supernatural events in Hawkins, but we’ll have to wait for the final episode of Stranger Things season 5 to know for sure.
