Most people would probably tell you that The View leans left politically. While the show does include at least one conservative voice, it’s usually outnumbered by hosts who openly share liberal viewpoints – which isn’t surprising. However, a recent study claiming a significant imbalance in the number of conservative versus liberal guests is getting a lot of attention, and many are finding the results quite shocking.
A recent study by the Media Research Center looked at all 341 guests who appeared on the show in 2025. They found that over half of the guests didn’t discuss politics at all. Of those who did – 130 in total – an overwhelming majority, 128, expressed liberal opinions, while only 2 voiced conservative viewpoints. To put it simply, 128 out of 130 guests who talked about politics leaned left.
TV Insider reports that the show avoids using clips from celebrity guests who have publicly shared their political opinions unless those guests discussed politics during the interview itself. Apparently, the show only cuts footage of guests who actually talked about politics on air. According to reports, Cheryl Hines, wife of Robert Kennedy, and politician Marjorie Taylor Greene were the only guests who voiced conservative opinions while on the show.
Before diving into the details, it’s important to know that The Media Research Center is a conservative organization that actively works against what it sees as liberal bias in the news. Because of this clear viewpoint, they’re naturally going to be critical of certain content. It’s difficult to say exactly what level of political mention would be considered significant, but for regular viewers of The View, this level of political discussion probably isn’t surprising.
I used the word ‘shocking’ because seeing everything presented so plainly is quite striking. While the discussion generally leans left, the occasional disagreement prevents it from feeling like biased advocacy. It comes across as a natural conversation among friends, most of whom hold left-leaning views, although it’s important to remember that some conservative hosts left feeling very upset.
There could be several reasons why the show features mostly liberal guests. One factor is that the acting world and Hollywood, in general, tend to lean more left politically. People are often drawn to careers that align with their beliefs, and actors might be hesitant to share different viewpoints if most of their colleagues think alike. Historically, Hollywood has been known as a more liberal environment, which likely explains why actors might not often express conservative opinions.
The show’s guest list – reportedly 25 Democrats and only 1 Republican – is more revealing than any overt slant. Considering the balance of political representation and voter preferences nationwide, this disparity suggests a clear bias. It’s unknown whether Republican politicians are being asked to appear and declining, or if they aren’t being invited in the first place. If potential guests believe the hosts favor Democrats, that could explain why more Democrats choose to participate.
TV shows generally have the freedom to lean politically left or right, as long as the network follows the Equal Time Rule during election periods. There’s nothing inherently wrong with The View featuring mostly liberal guests, even if the imbalance is noticeable. However, if the show wants to attract a broader audience or seem less biased, bringing on more conservative voices in 2026 might be a good idea, particularly if competition increases.
