Actor Joseph Quinn, known for his role as Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four, shared his thoughts on the top Spider-Man in a recent interview. He admired the portrayal of Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, expressed enthusiasm for a potential collaboration, and pondered over the enduring friendship between their characters, rooted in comic book lore.
Fantastic Four’s Joseph Quinn wants to team up with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man
At the movie’s debut event, Joseph Quinn expressed to DiscussingFilm his enthusiasm: “Indeed, it would be fantastic! I think Tom’s portrayal of Peter Parker as Spider-Man is exceptional – he’s simply the best there ever was. So, having him in a potential sequel would certainly be… very cool, indeed.
Quinn’s remark fuels excitement among fans about a potential collaboration between the Human Torch and Spider-Man within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a team-up long popular in comic books but yet to occur in live-action. Despite their combined history, they have not shared screen time due to complications with studio rights. However, Marvel Studios obtained control over the Fantastic Four in 2019 by acquiring 20th Century Fox. Notably, Sony continues to hold the rights to Spider-Man’s live-action films.
In the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday, slated for release in 2026, Quinn will reprise his role as the Human Torch. Tom Holland, who’s been playing Spider-Man since 2016, is set to star in Spider-Man: A New Journey, due out on July 31, 2026. Currently, there are no Marvel projects that bring these two characters together. Nevertheless, rumors indicate that Holland might make an appearance in Doomsday, although Marvel has yet to officially confirm this.
Marvel Studios anticipates that the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man will take significant roles in the concluding phases of the Multiverse Saga. If Tom Holland’s character joins Doomsday, it would mark the first time Johnny Storm and Peter Parker share the screen in the MCU. The movie “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is set to premiere in theaters on July 25, 2025.
Previously, rights complications had blocked a union between these two popular franchises. Now, it appears that Marvel Studios managing the Fantastic Four and partnering with Sony might open up the opportunity for this exciting crossover event to materialize.
