After Welcome To Derry’s Finale, I Want To See Another Big Connection To The Movies In Season 2

Ever since Welcome to Derry debuted in October, the show quickly became a hit, attracting viewers beyond just Stephen King’s dedicated fanbase. The first season is now complete and available to stream on HBO Max, and the finale offered major insights into Pennywise’s origins and connections to the IT films. If the show gets a second season, I have some ideas about where the story could go next.

Watching the finale of Welcome to Derry was incredible! They packed in so many cool references to the movies, it was a real treat for a fan like me. Seeing Bev again was fantastic, but the biggest surprise was learning that Matilda Lawler, who played young Marge, was actually Richie Tozier’s mother – the same Richie played by Finn Wolfhard and Bill Hader! Knowing Pennywise sees all time at once, I’m really hoping if they make a second season, we’ll get to see what happened to Marge as an adult. It would be amazing!

If Season 2 Happens, I Want To See Adult Marge

Marge undergoes a fantastic transformation in IT: Welcome to Derry. Initially disliked by many viewers, she becomes a beloved character as the season progresses. She ultimately joins the fight against Pennywise and finds love along the way. The death of Rich in episode seven deeply affects her, and the finale strongly suggests she will honor his memory by naming her future child after him.

While some viewers predicted Marge was Richie’s mother, the reveal was still exciting, especially seeing the missing person flyer that haunted Richie in the first IT film. Now that the connection is confirmed, fans are eager to find out what happened to Marge later in life.

Richie’s mom appears for a short time in the IT films, most noticeably during Stanley’s Bar Mitzvah. She doesn’t speak, but she’s visibly upset when Richie defends another kid for swearing at the event. She looks very different from the spirited young woman we saw in the first season of Derry, and I’d like to know more about what changed for her.

A popular fan theory suggests Marge, from the IT movies, is actually Richie Tozier’s mother. While some details don’t quite add up – adult Marge’s eyes show no sign of the injury hinted at in the original films – it’s possible Derry, the town where the story takes place, can not only erase memories but also heal physical wounds. Regardless, many fans, including myself, would be thrilled to see Marge play a role in the upcoming prequel series whenever it returns to television.

While there aren’t any plans for a second season of IT: Welcome To Derry right now, the show’s success gives fans reason to be optimistic. You can watch all eight episodes on HBO Max in the meantime.
