A concerning TikTok video of Tylor Chase, a former actor from Nickelodeon’s Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, quickly gained attention this week. The video, showing Chase looking unkempt and experiencing homelessness, upset many fans who grew up watching him. As people began to speculate about what happened, Shaun Weiss – the Mighty Ducks star who has successfully turned his own life around and achieved sobriety – offered to help.
As a big fan of ‘The Mighty Ducks,’ it’s amazing to see Shaun Weiss, who played Goldberg, stepping up to help Chase. He posted on Instagram saying he’s used his own recovery network to find a detox bed for him – which is incredible! Now, they just need to find Chase to get him there. It’s really heartwarming to see Shaun paying it forward and offering support like this.

Weiss isn’t responding with just sympathy; his reaction comes from personal experience. He’s openly shared his journey over the past few years and now uses what he’s learned to support others.
A recent viral TikTok video featuring Chase led to a GoFundMe campaign to help him with housing, food, and other necessities as he rebuilds his life. Many will remember Chase as Martin Qwerly from all three seasons of the Nickelodeon show Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, which is now available on Paramount+. While he last appeared on screen in the 2011 video game L.A. Noire, he’s largely lived a private life since then.

Once the video started becoming popular, Weiss used social media to explain he’d received a lot of messages about Chase. He didn’t just say he understood the worry, but explained he immediately began contacting people to look into it.
The Disney veterinarian confirmed that Chase has a spot reserved at a detox facility and a plan for ongoing treatment, made possible by support from his friend, Mike Jordan, and the 1111 Recovery center. The main issue now is finding Chase, Weiss explained.
I’m not in Los Angeles or I would go look for him myself.
The actor, who now advocates for recovery, brings a powerful personal story to this role. After finding early success in the Mighty Ducks movies (available on Disney+), his life became difficult in the late 2000s. He publicly battled addiction, experienced homelessness, and faced several arrests. However, sharing these struggles actually helped him get better. The actor from Heavyweights has now been sober for almost six years.
In 2023, Weiss openly discussed using his past struggles as inspiration for a new stand-up comedy routine. Instead of avoiding those experiences, he embraced them. He also generously donated all the money earned from his shows to charities that help young actors avoid drug and alcohol abuse.
Considering everything that’s happened, Weiss’s reaction to Chase feels very deliberate. He’s going beyond simply giving advice; he’s providing practical support, connections, and a sense of immediate action. Having publicly discussed how facing his addiction sooner rather than later was life-saving, it’s clear that experience is guiding his current approach.
It’s unclear if Tylor Chase will accept the support he’s receiving. However, in a digital world often focused on quick popularity, Chase, known from Hugging Molly, is going beyond just gaining attention – he’s actually offering practical help and a way for people to improve their lives.
