‘Cross’ Season 2 First Look Images Tease Return of Prime Video’s Action Hero Detective

Prime Video has released new photos from the second season of its popular crime thriller series. The show stars Morgan Freeman as Detective Alex Cross, a character based on James Patterson’s novels, and promises a bigger, more expansive story when it premieres early next year.

The official Cross on Prime account announced on X (formerly Twitter) that season two will premiere on Prime Video on February 11, 2026. They shared some first-look images (available below) and posted, “Alex Cross has a new case. Your first look at #CrossOnPrime Season 2, coming to Prime Video February 11.”

Created by Ben Watkins, who also served as executive producer and showrunner, the series Cross is based on the popular Alex Cross novels by James Patterson. Aldis Hodge stars as Alex Cross, a highly respected detective and forensic psychologist in Washington D.C., who investigates brutal serial killers. The first season was a success for Prime Video, and critics particularly praised Hodge’s performance.

‘Cross’ Season 2 Will Hit Prime Video on February 11, 2026

New photos from Cross Season 2 showcase Aldis Hodge returning as Alex Cross, alongside Alona Tal as the driven FBI agent Kayla Craig, and Isaiah Mustafa as his steadfast partner, John Sampson. The season also introduces Matthew Lillard as the enigmatic Lance Durand. Fans can expect the same thrilling action as the first season, with returning cast members Hodge, Mustafa, Tal, Samantha Walkes, Juanita Jennings, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, and Johnny Ray Gill joined by newcomers Matthew Lillard, Jeanine Mason, and Wes Chatham.

Ben Watkins, the creator and showrunner of Cross, recently told EW that the show’s second season will be bigger and broader in scope. He also mentioned that Season 2 was filmed at the same time as Season 1.

I decided I wanted to change things up and broaden the show’s focus beyond just Washington, D.C. While D.C. will always be central to the show, I wanted to introduce more variety and new perspectives.

He also hinted at Matthew Lillard’s upcoming role, explaining that despite being known for comedic parts, Lillard is a very versatile actor. He believes this is because Lillard is genuinely engaged with life and people, which helps him connect with his characters and take his work seriously.
