It appears that the second unit director for Avengers: Doomsday has left the project, having previously contributed to other popular comic book films.

Why was Avengers: Doomsday’s 2nd Unit Director fired?

Based on a recent report by Daniel Richtman (or DanielRPK on social media), it appears that Robert Alonzo, a 2nd Unit Director, has been released from his duties on the project Doomsday. The reason given for this action, according to Richtman, is that there was dissatisfaction with the quality of his work.

Previously, Alonzo has been part of several well-known comic book film productions such as Deadpool, The Batman, and Captain America: Brave New World. As per a reliable source MyTimeToShine, James Young is set to take over from him. Interestingly, James worked with the Russos on Avengers: Endgame and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Typically, in movie-making, the second unit refers to the team that films scenes not handled by the primary production crew.

Such scenes could encompass action sequences, close-ups, or any other footage that may not necessitate the main actors’ presence.
