How Avatar: Fire & Ash Ending Sets Up Avatar 4

The movie Avatar: Fire & Ash concludes with an impressive battle, but sets up some storylines for Avatar 4. However, whether we’ll actually get a fourth Avatar film largely depends on how well the latest movie does financially, as critics haven’t been as enthusiastic about it compared to the first two films.

Here’s how Avatar: Fire & Ash leaves space for Avatar 4.

How Avatar: Fire & Ash sets up the fourth movie

Avatar: Fire & Ash looks even better than the first Avatar movie. However, the story isn’t very strong, which makes it uncertain whether the film will be a financial success.

However, irrespective of this, Fire & Ash left behind enough for a sequel.

I was so thrilled when the Na’vi won the battle at the end of the third Avatar movie, even with Quaritch and Varang working together! But I noticed Varang survived, and it made me think – that felt intentional. It seems like the filmmakers are keeping her around for future stories. She didn’t have a huge role in the last movie, so I’m guessing she’ll be a more significant villain in the next ones. It’s exciting to think about what they have planned!

The climactic battle between Quaritch and Jake showed a hint of possible change in Quaritch. He seemingly fell to his death after leaping from the floating island, but because his body wasn’t found, it’s unclear if he actually died – he could still be alive.

This suggests that the Avatar movies haven’t ruled out the possibility of Quaritch becoming a redeemed character, something director James Cameron has hinted at before.

Because the Avatar series has several unresolved storylines and a vast world to discover, a fourth movie is definitely possible.

If James Cameron isn’t able to direct the future Avatar movies, he plans to write a book to finish the story he began.
