At over three hours long, Avatar: Fire & Ash might mean a trip to the restroom during the movie. Luckily, we’ve pinpointed the ideal moments for a quick break, so you can plan ahead!
We’ve pinpointed the two best times to take a bathroom break during Avatar: Fire & Ash without missing any major plot points, using moments from the trailers as guides (no spoilers!). The first good time is about an hour and ten minutes into the film, and the second is right before the movie reaches its climax.
Option One: Wait For Jake and Neytiri’s Big Argument
About an hour and ten minutes into the movie Avatar: Fire & Ash, there’s a good time to take a bathroom break – it happens while Jake and Neytiri are having an argument in the Metkayina Reef Village.
The key moment from the movie trailers – Jake urging his wife to let go of her anger – is central to the plot, and a lot of the dialogue builds on events from the 2023 film Avatar: The Way of Water.
Because of this, now’s a good time to quickly run to the restroom, as the following scenes aren’t particularly important.
Option Two: The Return of Toruk Makto
A particularly memorable scene happens later in the second act of Fire & Ash, often around the time viewers might need a restroom break. Immediately after Jake Sully reconnects with Toruk—a moment heavily featured in the movie’s trailers—the subsequent scenes feel very familiar, echoing imagery from the original 2009 Avatar film.
The film includes some fun nods to the original movie, but because these moments were shown so much in the trailers, you won’t miss much if you need a quick bathroom break during them.
Once the third act of Fire & Ash really kicks in, the tension and excitement quickly become greater than anything we’ve seen in the first two Avatar movies.
James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire & Ash is now playing in theaters.
