Jason Fuchs recently shared details about writing the movie Wonder Woman (2017) on a podcast. He explained that a scene after the credits was planned to introduce Kalibak, Darkseid’s son, as a way to link the film to the Justice League movie, which was released the same year. Fuchs also talked about his current project, It: Welcome to Derry, and a script for a Lobo movie that ultimately wasn’t made.
Wonder Woman’s scrapped setting and post-credits scene revealed
Jason Fuchs recently chatted with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, where they talked about his current projects, including his work on the upcoming ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ and other DC-related films.
When discussing his work on the 2017 film Wonder Woman, Fuchs expressed his pride in contributing a heartfelt, romantic quality to the movie, drawing a comparison to The Little Mermaid. He also hinted that several scenes and moments were ultimately cut from the final version, saying, “There were a few.”
He explained that the first version of the story was set during the Crimean War. It featured a meeting between Diana and Florence Nightingale, just before Diana took part in the famous Charge of the Light Brigade, Fuchs said.
So, the writer of Argylle told me about a cool scene that didn’t end up in the final movie. Apparently, they even had a post-credits sequence planned with Kalibak, who’s a pretty obscure but awesome villain from DC Comics. It was a deep cut for the fans, but sadly it didn’t make it!
In the comic books, Kalibak is Darkseid’s oldest son and shares a sibling connection with Orion and Grayven. He was once held captive on Earth during a conflict on his home planet, Apokolips. Additionally, Fuchs shared details about a deleted scene involving Wonder Woman.
I really wish we’d had time to include something in the third act, during the final fight between Diana and Ares, where ordinary women played a role in achieving victory alongside Diana. It would have been great to show them contributing to the outcome of World War I, not just relying on Diana’s powers.
