Alan Ritchson’s Navy SEAL Movie Adds Peaky Blinders Star

Alan Ritchson has been an actor for twenty years, but he recently became a global star thanks to his leading role in the popular Prime Video action series. Now, he’s landing more and more roles, with several exciting projects on the horizon.

The actor became part of the Fast & Furious series with Fast X in 2023 and is set to reprise his role in the upcoming Fast X: Part Two. He also signed on for a new Navy SEAL movie in September 2025. Recently, the film added Peaky Blinders actor Joe Cole to its cast.

The upcoming biopic will star Alan Ritchson as Mike Thornton, a highly decorated Navy SEAL. This Amazon MGM Studios project will bring Ritchson back together with director Patrick Hughes, who previously worked with him on the action film War Machine, which is currently being finished.

This new movie, currently without a title, tells the incredible true story of a daring rescue during the final days of the Vietnam War. It centers on Navy SEAL Mike Thornton (played by Ritchson) who bravely leads an effort to save five soldiers trapped behind enemy lines in North Vietnam.

Facing overwhelming odds – a force of 150 enemy soldiers – they battled through constant gunfire before narrowly escaping into the South China Sea. Lieutenant Thornton bravely swam for hours, even with a severely injured comrade and another soldier tied to him, until they reached safety. This incredible act of courage earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor.
