The second season is off to a great start, with both critics and fans praising it. Like many adaptations, viewers are enjoying spotting references to the original Fallout games. The first episode of Fallout Season 2 includes a particularly clever Easter egg – a subtle nod to content from the beloved Fallout: New Vegas.
Fallout: New Vegas is a beloved game in the Fallout series and heavily influenced the second season of the Prime Video show. The game is set in the harsh Mojave Wasteland, where players follow the Courier on a journey through New Vegas and its surroundings. Interestingly, as Lucy and The Ghoul explore this same area, they stumble upon a vault that many players recognize – a vault that has always remained mysteriously unopened.
Vault 24 is Crucial to Fallout Season 2’s Opening
The new season kicks off with Ghoul and Lucy chasing Hank as he makes a desperate run towards New Vegas and the safety of Vault-Tec. He’s been on the run ever since his secrets were revealed at the end of last season, and this chase leads to an unexpected discovery.
When they finally arrive at the Starlight Drive-In, the group uncovers a hidden truth Hank was searching for: a forgotten Vault, numbered 24, concealed behind the movie screen. While it initially appears to be a playful surprise, it quickly becomes clear that the vault is actually central to Hank’s mysterious task.
Let me tell you, Vault 24 is seriously disturbing. It reminded me a bit of A Clockwork Orange – they’re conducting some truly gruesome experiments on the residents, trying to brainwash them into becoming communists and… well, other awful things. We don’t really know what Hank, the guy running the show, is after, but it quickly becomes clear that a strange brain chip found inside the Vault is central to everything. And believe me, this chip is responsible for some incredibly horrific deaths. It’s a chilling discovery, and a major piece of the puzzle.
It’s really cool when an Easter egg in a game does more than just offer a playful reference. Vault 24 does just that in Fallout – it brings back a forgotten piece of the game’s history and becomes a key place for the characters Lucy and the Ghoul. This happened because Vault 24 was originally planned for Fallout: New Vegas but ended up being removed during development.
What is Vault 24’s Connection to Fallout: New Vegas
Discovering Vaults is a highlight of the Fallout games. Players love these memorable locations, and each one offers a unique experience. Whether it’s a quirky, well-preserved Vault or one filled with terrifying creatures and disturbing experiments, they all provide new challenges and rewards.
For years, Vault 24 has been a hidden mystery within the game. It was originally planned for inclusion in Fallout: New Vegas, but was ultimately removed before the game’s release. However, a single item remained in the final game – a Vault-Tec jumpsuit for Vault 24 – hinting at its existence and keeping the secret alive for players to discover.
As a huge Fallout fan, I was so thrilled to see the show actually bring that little piece of lore to life! It really shows how much care and dedication the creators have for the original games and how committed they are to giving us a truly authentic and enjoyable Fallout experience. For years, Vault 24 was just something fans speculated about, but now it’s something we can actually see and enjoy – it’s awesome!
