The show recently shocked viewers with a sudden and violent death. Star Nishi Munshi has revealed that her character’s death in Season 4 was even more gruesome in the original plans.
Let’s talk about Tracy McLusky’s shocking death on the show. I was really struck by how brutally it played out, orchestrated by Merle Callahan’s thugs after Kyle rejected his offer. It was a tough scene, no doubt. But amidst all the darkness, there was a small ray of hope: little Mitch, Tracy and Kyle’s baby, actually survived. That little detail definitely offered some comfort, even as we were reeling from Tracy’s loss. It sets up a lot for the story going forward, and I’m curious to see how Kyle will cope with protecting his son now.
When asked how her character felt after learning Mitch was alive, Tacy explained that it was a huge relief. She pointed out the show had dealt with the loss of babies in heartbreaking ways before, so this moment tapped into a deep, instinctive fear – a feeling of wanting to protect those she cares about, even at her own expense. She described it as a willingness to sacrifice herself if it meant keeping others safe.
Honestly, I totally would have gone along with it, but it did make me uneasy. If Tracy were watching, I’d be worried about how it looked. We even joked about what Michael might do – picturing something wild like strapping Mitch to a car! But I was genuinely relieved when it didn’t come to that. We actually talked about going even further, even suggesting they kill the baby, but everyone agreed that was just too much, too cruel.
Tracy described the creative process as intense, saying, “We all went to a pretty dark place.” She explained that because the group worked so closely together, they had to address a major question: what would happen with the baby? She admitted the storyline definitely ended on a cliffhanger.
Premiering in 2021, Mayor of Kingstown, created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, takes place in a town heavily reliant on the prison system. The show stars Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky, who steps into the role of “Mayor”—an unofficial go-between for gangs, inmates, law enforcement, and other powerful groups—after his brother’s death.
Let me tell you, the cast in this show is phenomenal. Hugh Dillon really grounds things as the local detective, and his chemistry with Kyle Chandler is fantastic. Necar Zadegan brings a lot of power as the district attorney, and Derek Webster is a solid presence as another detective. But honestly, it’s the supporting players like Dianne Wiest and Emma Laird who really elevate the whole thing. Over the three seasons I’ve seen, everyone brings their A-game, making it a truly memorable ensemble.
How Season 4 of Mayor of Kingstown Has Shaken Up the Hit Taylor Sheridan Crime Series
The fourth season of Mayor of Kingstown began on October 26th and immediately introduced significant changes to the show’s already dramatic storyline. A key development was the arrival of . Throughout the season, Hobbs and Mike McLusky have frequently clashed, with Hobbs often reminding Mike of his history with crime.
You know, I really enjoyed working on Mayor of Kingstown. It was a unique experience because I joined the show after it was already established, and my character was new too. Honestly, that actually helped me get my footing – it was a good fit, and I really loved being a part of it.
Mayor of Kingstown is currently available for streaming on Paramount+.
