Tunnels begins with reporters Pam and Sharon looking into the disappearances of several homeless individuals. Their search leads them into the city’s sewer system, where rumors of enormous rats abound. But the reporters soon discover their investigation is pointing toward a far more dangerous and widespread conspiracy.

The two reporters uncover a much larger and more dangerous story than their publisher wants to share, leading them on a confrontation with the truth hidden beneath the city in the sewers.

The story’s marketing focused on a shadowy monster, but the actual plot veers off in a different direction. This portrayal also makes one of the journalists seem surprisingly unaware of what’s really happening. Ultimately, the story feels more like a crime drama than a horror tale set in the sewers.
