The tenth film in the Fast & Furious saga came out in 2023, but we haven’t heard much about the planned eleventh and final movie, currently known as Fast X: Part Two. Still, Vin Diesel, the main actor, has been hinting at what’s to come on his social media accounts for quite a while.
The last movie in the series cost around $378.8 million to make—making it one of the most expensive films ever—but it didn’t earn back its costs. Universal Pictures has been planning the next installment for a while and reportedly hoped to keep the budget under $200 million. However, Vin Diesel recently hinted on social media that soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo might appear in Fast 11.
The actor posted a photo with Ronaldo and revealed they’re working together on a Fast & Furious movie. He explained that fans had been asking if Ronaldo would be involved, and confirmed that a role was specifically written for him, calling him ‘a real one’.
The photo became incredibly popular online, gaining nearly two million likes in less than a day. People also left lots of supportive comments for Diesel.
Cristiano Ronaldo, widely considered one of the greatest soccer players ever, hasn’t started acting yet. Though many debate whether he or Lionel Messi is the better player, Ronaldo is arguably more popular globally. He’s the most-followed individual on Instagram, boasting an incredible 668 million followers.
For such a popular action franchise, signing the world’s most famous athlete seems unlikely. Given Cristiano Ronaldo’s massive fanbase, his first acting role would demand a substantial salary.
Vin Diesel often hints at future plans for the Fast & Furious franchise, but not everything he suggests actually comes to fruition. For example, he’s mentioned certain developments that haven’t happened, and others without confirmed start dates. He’s also talked about several spin-off movies, but so far, only one has been released: Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, starring Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson, which came out in 2019.
A new Fast & Furious movie is in development, but it’s taking an unexpected turn. Originally, Dwayne Johnson was set to star alongside Jason Momoa’s character, Dante Reyes, from Fast X. While a release was anticipated around 2027 or 2028, there haven’t been any recent announcements about the film’s progress.
Vin Diesel Praised Dwayne Johnson Amid Their Feud
As a big fan, it was really disappointing to hear about the issues between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel during the Fast & Furious movies. It’s never been totally clear what caused the problem, but it got so bad that The Rock didn’t appear in several of the films. I’ve noticed Vin Diesel has often made public attempts to mend things, which is good to see, and thankfully, Dwayne did make a cameo in Fast X. I’m hoping they can resolve their differences for good!
His latest tribute came in late November with a public post about The Smashing Machine. He also stated, “When he joined Hobbs, he fully committed to the role and left a lasting impact on Universal’s memorable characters.”
