Chelley Bissainthe and Ace Greene, a couple from season 7 of Love Island USA, have broken up after six months. They connected early on the show and almost reached the final, but were eliminated after 30 days. The couple gained a lot of attention from viewers both during their time in the villa and after the show ended, thanks to their often-dramatic relationship.
Bissainthe recently discussed her split on Page Six Radio, explaining that she and her partner decided to separate amicably, and that it wasn’t an easy choice. She shared that the couple faced difficulties privately, which ultimately led to their breakup. You can find her complete statement below.
It’s tough to say, but Ace and I have decided to go our separate ways. It wasn’t an easy decision for either of us, honestly. But I’ve been thinking a lot about it, and sometimes loving someone means you have to let them go, even when it hurts. We realized it was better to end things while we still cared for each other, before feelings changed. It just felt like the right thing to do, you know?
We had a strong foundation of respect and genuinely wanted the relationship to succeed, but sometimes things just don’t work out. All couples face difficult challenges, and sometimes the most sensible thing to do is make a tough decision and move forward.
Bissainthe declined to share specific details about why she and her partner broke up, explaining that she wants to respect both of their privacy and doesn’t believe the details are important. She asked fans to understand that they’re handling the situation amicably. The announcement followed weeks of online rumors, sparked by fans noticing they hadn’t been seen together publicly for some time.
Although Ace and Chelley publicly said they were trying to make their relationship work after the show, they started sharing less and less about it, particularly after Ace publicly disagreed with Nic and Olandria – a couple many fans loved and who Ace and Chelley had seemed close to. By the fall, people noticed they weren’t appearing together in public or interacting on social media as much, leading to rumors that they had broken up.
During the premiere of season 7, Chelley and Ace shared that they’d been friends for a long time. After that, many viewers accused them of faking a relationship as a tactic to gain attention, sponsorships, or improve their chances of winning the show.
Chelley from Love Island spoke about the rumors, explaining that she and her partner had always known their connection wasn’t about seeking publicity – it was a genuine, mutual love. She also admitted that even strong feelings aren’t always enough to make a relationship last.
