Ross Duffer, one of the creators of Stranger Things, has said that the second part of the show’s final season will be much darker and more stressful to watch than the first part.
Duffer Brothers shared details about the second part of Stranger Things season 5 on Instagram on Thursday. They revealed the titles and directors of the upcoming episodes, which are scheduled to be released on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025.
Duffer shared a few hints about the upcoming episodes. He warned viewers that the episode before the last one would be incredibly suspenseful, and that the six-day wait for the finale would feel agonizing. “It’s going to be a long six days until the finale,” he playfully hinted.
Okay, so “Shock Jock” starts right where “Sorcerer” left off, and it’s Frank Darabont directing again! But honestly, this one feels totally different from “Turnbow Trap.” It’s much more intense, and genuinely creepy – he really goes for a darker, scarier vibe here.
Shawn Levy directs “Escape from Camazotz,” and it’s the most emotionally impactful episode of the series so far – the acting is incredibly moving and consistently brings tears to our eyes.
Shawn and I co-directed ‘The Bridge.’ I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s likely the most emotionally impactful episode of the season, aside from the finale.
The upcoming episodes, starting with “Shock Jock,” will continue the story directly after the events of the volume 1 finale, “Sorcerer.” Frank Darabont, known for his work on The Walking Dead, will direct the first episode of this new volume.
Frank Darabont isn’t the only director returning for Stranger Things. Shawn Levy will also be back to direct “Escape from Camazotz.” According to a co-creator of the show, this episode will be the largest and most ambitious of the three new episodes. He says the actors delivered incredibly moving performances and the emotional story affected everyone involved during filming, and he believes it will have the same impact on viewers.
The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy will co-direct the final episode of Stranger Things season 5, titled “The Bridge.” The show’s creator hasn’t shared many details, but hinted that this episode will likely be the most emotionally impactful of the entire season.
