However, the excitement builds as she has recently signed up for a major film set to release in 2026, and I can barely contain my anticipation to see her shining on the big screen once more!
Maisie Williams Has Been Cast In Practical Magic 2
According to Deadline, Maisie Williams is set to star alongside Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in the second “Practical Magic” film, with Kidman confirming the sequel’s existence towards the end of 2024. The movie is a continuation of the 1998 romantic fantasy about two sisters (Bullock and Kidman), who are part of a lineage of witches.
In the excitement of Williams’ casting announcement, it was revealed that Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing, stars from the original film, will reprise their roles as the Owens’ aunts. Additionally, Joey King, known for her role in The Kissing Booth, Lee Pace from Foundation, Xolo Maridueña of Cobra Kai, and Solly McLeod, who graced House of the Dragon, are all part of this cast too.
It’s been revealed that Joey King will portray Bullock’s daughter in the upcoming project, but the characters to be played by Williams and the new cast members are yet to be specified. Have you pondered over when Maisie Williams last starred in a significant film after Game of Thrones ended? Interestingly, her latest one was The New Mutants, released in 2020, which was plagued by controversy due to the Disney/Fox merger. Despite this, I had been eagerly anticipating the movie even before Williams’ involvement.
It’s exciting to know that Bullock and Kidman will reunite with the writer of the ’90s fall movie, who hinted that fans will be thrilled with the project they are working on. Directing the film will be Susanne Bier, known for her work in “The Perfect Couple” and “Bird Box”.
It’s possible that Maisie Williams could be portraying the daughter of Nicole Kidman’s character or a friend of Sally’s daughter in “Practical Magic 2.” Regardless, this sequel isn’t usually on my list of anticipated movies, but with Williams joining the cast, it has now moved to the top of my must-watch list for 2026. “Practical Magic 2” is scheduled for release in theaters on September 18, 2026.
