Huge MCU Theory Suggests This Classic Marvel Hero Will Team Up With Doctor Doom

The next Avengers movie, potentially titled Doomsday, is shaping up to feature a major villainous alliance. Doctor Doom, also known as Victor von Doom, is expected to be the primary antagonist. However, he likely won’t be the only threat the Avengers face, suggesting a team-up of supervillains could be in store.

Doctor Doom has proven over decades of Marvel comics that he’s incredibly capable and dangerous by himself. However, the massive team of heroes in Avengers: Doomsday suggests he might have help, despite being a powerful opponent.

Honestly, anything feels possible with Doctor Doom involved, considering he’s not exactly a lone wolf – he’ll team up with anyone who helps him get what he wants. And it’s interesting they’ve cast an actor who’s played a frequent ally of Doom in the comics. It could be nothing, but I’m getting a strong feeling we might see a really cool team-up pulled straight from the comic books in the MCU!

Doctor Doom’s Connection To Namor In Marvel Comics Explained

Namor, a character featured in Avengers: Doomsday’s, is also the villain from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Many fans believe he’ll eventually join forces with the Avengers to fight Doom. This idea comes from his history as an Avengers member in the comics, and the fact that Wakanda Forever ended with Wakanda and Talokan becoming allies.

This is definitely possible, given that Namor isn’t simply a villain. However, we shouldn’t forget the long and complicated history between him and Doctor Doom.

As a longtime Marvel fan, I’ve always been fascinated by the dynamic between Namor and Doctor Doom. They’ve teamed up so many times, especially back in the early days of the Fantastic Four! I remember reading that their very first alliance was way back in Fantastic Four #6, and it definitely wasn’t the last time those two found they had a shared enemy in Marvel’s First Family. They just keep coming back together, it seems!

The two continued to team up on multiple occasions, and Marvel even created a comic book series based on their partnership. When Namor’s own comic was canceled, he teamed up with Doctor Doom in a series called Super Villain Team-Up. While the comic later included other characters, it mainly featured battles between Doom and various villains, including Attuma and Red Skull.

Initially, Namor and Doctor Doom teamed up because they both wanted to defeat the Fantastic Four. Doom saw Namor and the underwater kingdom of Talokan as powerful assets he could use to achieve his own goals. Namor felt the same way about Doom, hoping he could help conquer the land above the sea.

Namor Could Side With Doctor Doom In The MCU

Namor and Doctor Doom have frequently teamed up in Marvel comics, which suggests a possible alliance between them in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Namor has paused his attacks on the surface world and Wakanda for now, he could easily return to being a villain, just like in the comics.

Okay, so picture this: Doctor Doom ends up in Talokan, and honestly, I fully expect him to try and recruit Namor. It just makes sense. Namor’s sheer power and control over the Talokanil people would be a huge advantage for Robert Downey Jr.’s character as he’s clearly building towards a confrontation with the Avengers. It’s a smart move for Doom, and one I can easily see playing out on screen.

This new development might be why Shuri and M’Baku will appear in Doomsday. They could discover the plans of Namor and Doom and attempt to warn others.

A Team-Up With Doctor Doom Doesn’t Mean Namor Can’t Become A Hero

While it would be surprising to see Namor team up with Doctor Doom – a departure from how he’s typically portrayed in the MCU, especially after Avengers: Doomsday and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – it doesn’t mean he’s destined to be a permanent villain. The upcoming story is planned as a two-part arc leading into Avengers: Secret Wars, giving Namor room to switch allegiances and play different roles.

That approach feels right, particularly given the history of Namor and Doctor Doom. They have equally compelling reasons to work together or turn against each other. The comics demonstrate this well – there have been numerous team-ups between them, but those partnerships usually end with one betraying the other.

Both Doctor Doom and Namor are incredibly arrogant, and their personalities are bound to conflict. Doom sees everyone as a tool to be used, not a partner, and believes no one is on his level. This will be a major problem, as Namor, a proud and self-assured king, won’t accept being treated as inferior.

It’s also important to consider Namor’s morality. He’s not a typical villain, but more of an anti-hero – meaning he has principles and won’t do anything. If Doctor Doom goes too far or makes a decision that threatens Namor’s people, that could spark a conflict between them in Avengers: Doomsday.
