Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has been actively promoting his new four-part documentary, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which focuses on the life of Diddy. The documentary has gained significant attention since its release earlier this month. While Diddy has criticized the show and alleges footage was taken without his permission, Jackson still hopes Diddy will ultimately find value in it.
Why Does 50 Cent Think Diddy Will Enjoy The Reckoning?
50 Cent and Diddy have been rivals for a long time, but 50 Cent insists his new Netflix documentary isn’t about their issues. He’s been getting a lot of questions during interviews about both the show and his relationship with Diddy. Recently, Us Weekly reminded him that he once said he thought Diddy would actually like the documentary. 50 Cent explained why he believed that would be the case.
The documentary tells the complete life story of Puff Daddy, and doesn’t hold back on any details. Everyone knows how much he values his legacy, and this film covers everything – his triumphs, hardships, influence, and even his complexities. While he might not agree with every perspective, I believe he’ll appreciate how thoroughly it explores his life. It’s a truly honest and comprehensive look.
The documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning explores the life and career of the artist known as Puff Daddy, from his childhood in New York City to his success in the music industry and the numerous legal issues he’s faced. The film features interviews with people who have known Sean Combs, including former friends, colleagues, and those who have filed lawsuits against him, such as Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones and Joi Dickerson-Neal. While some have been reluctant to speak publicly about the rapper, 50 Cent says he hasn’t hesitated to share his perspective.
Those individuals likely had reasons to be afraid of him, based on their past experiences. I’ve faced much tougher situations, though. He’s never given me any reason to be concerned. Perhaps it’s because I’m not easily intimidated – they probably realize I’ll respond firmly to any hostility.
50 Cent explained he felt it was important to create this documentary to ensure people didn’t assume the entire hip hop community approved of the allegations against Combs. While 50 Cent and director Alexandria Stapleton aimed to make a balanced film, the use of certain footage remains controversial.
What’s Going On With The Footage Controversy?

‘That Boy A Monster.’ Waka Flocka Flame Didn’t Mince Words After Watching New Diddy Docuseries
The documentary The Reckoning features video footage of Diddy filmed in the six days before his late 2024 arrest. According to reports, Diddy hired a videographer to capture him with coworkers and fans. After the documentary’s release, Diddy stated that the filmmakers—including Stapleton and Curtis Jackson—used the footage without his consent.
50 Cent, Alexandria Stapleton, and Netflix have stated the footage wasn’t obtained illegally, but they haven’t said who they got it from. When asked about this in a recent interview with Us Weekly, 50 Cent (Jackson) simply said he’s protecting his sources.
Both Diddy and his mother, Janice Combs, have criticized the recent documentary. Janice Combs specifically denied claims made by some of Diddy’s friends, alleging she was abusive towards him and that he physically harmed her. It’s unknown if either of them have actually seen the documentary, or are responding to secondhand accounts. Viewers can watch Sean Combs: The Reckoning on Netflix and form their own opinions.
