As the first season of this anime ends, Crunchyroll has shared a list of 10 similar shows for fans to check out. These recommendations all offer the same dark, intense style and interesting abilities as the original.
I’ve been diving into some amazing recommendations lately, and honestly, the range is incredible! You’ve got everything from gritty, post-apocalyptic stories to super-charged action series with really cool weapons. But what’s fascinating is that they all seem to echo the themes I love in Gachiakuta. If you’re a fan, you’ll definitely recognize similar ideas – like divided communities and harsh, unforgiving landscapes. And it’s not just obscure titles either! They’ve included big names like One Piece and Attack on Titan, so there’s truly something for every anime enthusiast.
The 10 Best Anime to Watch Like Gachiakuta, According to Crunchyroll
- Sabikui Bisco
- 86 EIGHTY-SIX
- Trigun Stampede
- The World Ends With You The Animation (2021)
- Soul Eater
- Attack on Titan
- One Piece
- My Hero Academia
- Tougen Anki
- Fire Force
Okay, so I just have to tell you about Sabikui Bisco! Crunchyroll pointed out it’s got a really cool vibe similar to Gachiakuta, which I love. Basically, just like in Gachiakuta where Rudo ends up in this wasteland after being sent to the Pit, Bisco takes place in a world totally destroyed by something called the ‘Rusty Wind.’ It’s turned everything into a desert full of these huge, crazy creatures – it’s seriously awesome!
Both Trigun Stampede and Gachiakuta share a similar setting: a harsh, desert wasteland called No Man’s Land, filled with dangerous creatures. In Trigun Stampede, this is where humanity fights for survival, and it’s also the place where the characters Enjin and Rudo initially cross paths in Gachiakuta.
Several anime series, including 86 Eighty-Six, Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, and One Piece, are noted for their exploration of social inequality and oppression. 86 and Attack on Titan particularly reflect a power imbalance similar to the dynamic seen in the Gachiakuta anime.
Both 86 and Attack on Titan explore societies built on extreme inequality. In 86, privileged citizens live comfortably while a marginalized group, the Eighty-Sixers, are dehumanized and forced to fight a war using drones. Attack on Titan shows a similar divide, with royalty safely inside fortified walls and the poor used as disposable soldiers against monstrous Titans – and this inequality existed long before the introduction of the nation of Marley.
Both My Hero Academia and One Piece tackle themes of discrimination and oppression. My Hero Academia shows how prejudice against people with visibly different appearances – those whose superpowers change their bodies – can drive individuals to villainy, like the character Spinner. Similarly, the story of Rudo in the Sphere explores this type of rejection. One Piece was also recognized for its portrayal of life under a cruel and oppressive government.
If you enjoy the look and action of Gachiakuta, Crunchyroll suggests checking out Soul Eater and Fire Force. Both shows, created by Atsushi Ohkubo, share similar stylish character designs and team dynamics. They also feature unique power systems – Soul Eater uses weapon resonance, while Fire Force focuses on controlling elements – which are reminiscent of the abilities seen in Gachiakuta.
Beyond simply being related, these works share common threads. The World Ends With You The Animation is notable for its use of graffiti, mirroring how graffiti is a core element of the world created in Gachiakuta by Hideyoshi Andou.
Premiering on July 6, 2025, and animated by Studio Bones, Gachiakuta tells the story of Rudo, a young man from a tribe with a history of crime. He’s falsely accused of killing his adoptive father, Regto, and banished to the Pit. There, he becomes a Cleaner, fighting monstrous creatures while trying to discover the truth about his world.
